[PC, Steam] Halo: The Master Chief Collection $14.98 @ Steam

1300

This pops up on sale every few months. Good value. I just purchased this for $59.95 yesterday so you can thank me and my poor luck for it being reduced the day after!

Also, I believe if you have Microsoft PC game pass it's currently on sale for $9.99 from the Microsoft store.

    Unmissable set of games

And Microsoft keeps adding to it and improving it over the years. Great value.

      • i thought they closed the multiplayer servers? or is this under the MCC title?

        • No idea. Last time I played the multiplayer wasn't very active though.

        • +3

They only closed the original 360 servers iirc

        • +1

No they definitely didn't close the servers, this is the new collection of all the old games under one service (MCC).

The old original games have some server closures but not the new collection.

As for Microsoft continuing to improve it, they have officially ended the support of MCC.

    • A good single player experience, right?

I only ever played local multi on Xbox at a mate’s house.

      • +1

Yeah, it's very solid single player. But amazing multiplayer, highly recommend

Rumoured to be coming to Switch (may be Switch 2).

    • Yep 👍

    • Microsoft have been trying to make Gamepass for Switch/Playstation happen for a few years now, wonder if Nintendo would bite for Switch 2?

      • I doubt it. Nintendo/Sony make most of their revenue from commission on game sales.

If you knew it goes on sale regularly why did you buy it?

    • +6

I've been wanting to play some co-op games with a mate and I assumed it wouldn't go on sale again for a couple more months so just bought full price.

For the Playstation hommies out there this will be coming to PS5 in the near future so hang tight.

  • +1

I went to buy it only to realise i already have it

Very disappointing to see you bought something from Steam at full price. We can only hope you’ve learnt your lesson.

    • +2

I don't think I've EVER bought anything on steam at full price, at least in the last 15 years or so.

    • They won't need to hand in their ozbargain pass. This time.

A reminder that if you have GamePass Ultimate then this is included at no extra charge, for both PC and Xbox.

Awesome collection, though, if you're a fan of the Halo universe then this is a must-have.

I have GPU but will be buying this on Steam because of the Steam Workshop integration for easy mod installs/updates.

They should add Halo 5 to this collection.

PSA: look up “alpha ring” on github. You drop a couple files into the install folder and it’ll enable 2-4p split screen co-op campaigns. Can use xbox, ps4 or ps5 controllers to play. P1 can use KB+mouse

Worth manually backing up the game files (drag n drop) so you can restore and play in offline mode in case some future update borks the mod compatibility.

When launching the game, you need to set the steam launch option as “disable anti-cheat” for the mod to work.

  • I went to buy it but then it was already in my library. what do I do?

    • If you have bought individual games follow these steps

Launch Steam and click “Steam Support” in “Help”.
Search for the game you want to remove.
Click on “I want to permanently remove this game from my account.”
Select “Ok, remove the listed games from my account permanently.”

Make sure you remove the individual games first and then remove Halo Master Chief Collection last, once you have removed them all it should give you the option to buy the complete package.

You can get a list of which ones you bought by right clicking it in your Steam library and opening the game properties then click the DLC tab.
