I got a lot of chainsaws
I'd go through 2 bottles of this every season.
Sounds like you know a thing or two about chainsaws! I have this a battery powered chain saw on a stick (to trim high branches). The chain saw leaks oil when not in use… is that normal? Is there a way to store it so it doesn’t leak oil?
I have it on my cereal
I use Husqvarna 2 stroke chainsaws and yes it is normal. I store chainsaws so the oil fill cap is facing downwards. The seal on the cap prevents any leaking. Hope this makes sense.
@MS Paint: I never thought of storing it upside down, but that actually makes sense… will try, thank you!
Apparently vegetable oils can be used for chainsaws.
I find the blood of zombies works pretty well.
And chainsaw oil makes good bike chain lubrication as it sticks really well. I used to use it all the time back in the UK as wet weather caused a lot of the fancier lubes not to last long. It's been less of an issue here though.
Any cheap biodegradable chain saw oil?
I use the cheapest canola oil in the supermarket, since I sometimes cut near waterways and aim to avoid pollution.
Has worked well for several years in both battery and petrol saws.
I'd recommend not leaving it sitting too long - I imagine it'd go rancid or something.
Thanks good to know
Do you run with only vegetable oil or do you put mineral based oil in every so often?
Just vege - the saws I'm running now have never had anything else.
Makes sense, canola oil was heavily used pre ww2 to lubricate machinery (of course it was called rapeseed oil back then)
can this be used on stihl chainsaws
yes
Man that’s a lot of chain saw oil
