Kluger Hybrid GX 2023 Wind Noise from Windows

I've noticed wind noise coming from both the driver and passenger side window glass in my Toyota Kluger Hybrid GX 2023. Took it into Airport Toyota dealership (where I purchased the car in Nov '24) and went for a test drive to demonstrate the problem. Mechanic said it was unusual and too loud even with the windows fully closed.

They took in the car to investigate and was first told that the mechanic sealed the windows with tape and tested and found 50% of the noise reduced. I was told seals will need to be replaced. Now the wind noise is even louder. Next day, got a call asking to bring in the car to refit or replace the whole windscreen. Totally different to what I was told earlier.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve come across mixed reviews on Reddit mentioning potential issues with seals under the bonnet/hood, door seals, or even the mirror design.

Would really appreciate it if fellow Kluger owners could share their experiences and, if you've managed to resolve this issue, the solution that worked for you. Thanks!

  • Does it have roof racks? They can be noisy.

    • +3

And the kayak attached to said roof racks adds a few dB as well.

      • +1

That is why a RAV4 is preferred for that use case.

      • According to Christopher Bancroft the GX models can't have Toyota roof racks fitted, so they must be the noisy aftermarket ones. Unless things have changed in the last 4 years.

  • try Lunix ?

  • Is this a new noise? What has changed?

I must say I think it is funny, imagining you asking a mechanic what might be making wind noise. I doubt it is one of the things they spend a lot of time on in their apprenticeship.

OP, what do you think is making the noise? Do you have a mate who might have zip ties a harmonica to the radiator?

    • And did they replace the window seals, and did that make the noise louder? Or was it louder before the car was due to go back for the seals?

  • IMO, If they’re doing it under warranty, let them try whatever they want

    • This. Keep going back if its not normal. They might get it right eventually.

  • Have checked to see if your windows are ‘rolled’ up? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😛
