I really enjoyed the past Top Spin game and so was super keen on this one but the reviews were horrendous.

Has anyone played this latest version?

I just looked it up on Metacritic, some reviewers gave it 90+/100. Some gave it 0/100. Sorry, can't help ya haha

I played on the phone in the past but never on console. Purchased for $15 from the last EB deal. It is ok for me, good game for quick play and relax.

I played it on PS5 and did not enjoy it - hope this helps

Grabbed it on day one for PS5 and got a week or two of playtime out of it. The gameplay’s pretty solid - got a few issues here and there, but overall it feels tight, similar to the older Top Spin 4. Unfortunately, everything outside of the gameplay is a letdown. The worst part is the MyCareer mode and progression - it’s shallow and gets repetitive fast. On top of that, pretty much every mode (even single-player, except for training) needs an internet connection, so the game’s got an expiry date once the servers go offline.

      • I really liked Top Spin 4, progressing through the season, playing the junkie tournaments and the junkie players and working on my character with coaches until getting into some proper tournaments. Having said that, time is scarce and I just can't allow the investment in a game that got 4.9 user reviews on Metacritic. Its disappointing because I so wanted this to be a good game.

I also bought on $15 EB deal. It’s a weird one, you start off career mode just grinding and grinding matches and it feels like your opponents are incredible and never miss. Need to do the mundane training sessions to get your XP up so you can level up and then suddenly you turn a corner and barely lose a point. So basically it goes from frustrating as hell and a major grind early to becoming super easy and then it’s boring.

It’s fine but the mechanics aren’t great and only having about 8-10 current male pro players on the roster is really lame.

The training sessions are also very annoying once you get to the higher ones, they are unnecessarily difficult. I’d give it a 6/10.

Got this for $16 during EB Boxing Day sale. I think it went down to $5? Some correct me if I’m wrong.

Not a very good game, I prefer Virtua Tennis on PS Vita.

Wii Tennis and was it Wii Grand Slam Tennis(?) ruined all future tennis games for me.

Saw them peddling this at the AO yesterday at full price.

Glad I waited a day to shop around.

    • Wow they had a stall to try to sell the video game?
