How to Get The Best Bargain for Samsung Galaxy S25 Phone? Coming 23 January

Hello, looking for tip to get a great bargain on S25 and save some money. Any tips ?

  1. I already sign up for the $200 bonus at Samsung and JB Hifi.

  2. I bought the e-voucher $20 (which I heard will be boosted to $100). $100 can be stacked to the pre-order right?

  3. I dont have anything acceptable for trade in but I really need that trade in bonus. I read that I can just say I will trade in something (anything acceptable, of low value)… to get the trade in bonus and end up not sending the trade in to Asurion. Maybe pay the $60 late fees. So technically the trade in value of the item should be around $60 too… unless someone has any better suggestion?

  4. Got my international flight to claim back the GST from Tourist Refund Scheme.

  5. Any other thing ? I am working on getting my alumni .edu email does it stack on the pre-order? 20% education store ?

  6. Can I stack with Cash Rewards 5% ?

  7. I read in Samsung terms and condition that if we bought it and within 14 days, there is another cheaper offer etc… there is a price guarantee and they will match the price difference and refund.

  8. any other tips that anyone can share?

  • Wait for the telco employees that get staff discount on them, and see what the prices are they can get it for. Could be 30% off rrp, could be 50%

    • my mate told me they cant sell to outsider, if company find out the employee could be in trouble.

  • Wow, it sounds like you're really desperate to get this phone. Is having the latest phone with incremental improvements really worth all this effort, thought and time? Save your brain power for something more important.

It's quite an assumption to say incremental improvements. Phone has been released yet. Wife and I normally update every 2nd generation but this time we are rocking S22 Ultras and I'm sure people have plenty older than that. Not incremental improvements if people are jumping 5 generations. The previous model released (S24 Ultra) becomes irrelevant for comparison as many of us never had it. I understand his pov because it's not a huge waste of time to study the options with a phone if you are doing it once every 4 years or so.

      • Agreed, I'm looking to upgrade from my S21 Ultra. I use it mainly for the camera and it looks decent.

  • I never knew about this GST thing, I'm taking my phone overseas a few weeks later. Should have done this with the last one too.

Edit: Hang on, just looked it up. Would it be worth claiming the GST before I go if I have to declare it when I get back and the value will probably be more than the $900 allowed? Seems pointless?

    • When you come back into Australia it is "used", a personal use item, just like anyone else's phone. It becomes a problem if you have ALOT of phones…. that's like importing electronic goods into the country for resale purpose, one phone should be ok. It will just be like any other passengers coming into Australia. Never had any problem before.

      • Very cool, won't be a problem then, as yes, I'll only have the one phone for personal use. I'll be doing this. Thanks.

This is not correct, once you have claimed it on the way out of the Australia you can't claim it is exempt from the $900 limit on the way back in. You are typically only exempt on items you brought out of Australia without claiming TRS and then bring it back to country. Border force frequently ask for proof you purchased high value items in Australia. Most people just don't declare when bringing TRS goods back to Australia and get away with it but you can be caught.

          • @DOGGYWOWWOW: Ok, this will obviously be my current, personal use phone, in my pocket, with all my stuff in it. Food for thought.

            • @Genebaby: There is no "personal use" exemption. When you claim a high amount of TRS you are usually flagged by border force on your way back into the country. If you claimed >$900 on your "personal phone" you will still need to pay back the GST re-entering the country. This is the reason TRS officers note the IMEI of the phones you claim TRS on.

My experience with TRS is similar to discussion here reddit. If you're travelling with others you can pool your $900 per person allowance.

  • All this just for a subpar phone. Impressive.

  • So if you don't buy from Samsung you'll have wasted that $20?

    • No it doesnt get wasted. You have three years to use the $20 e-voucher for other stuffs from their store. There may be some restrictions.

      • Yeah but it stays at the $20 value, what on their site would be $20.

        How it Works
Purchase the $20 Galaxy eVoucher+ to receive a voucher code sent to your email address within 24 hours. For a limited time, the eVoucher value will be boosted from $20 to $100, when you redeem it towards pre-ordering the latest smartphone series device unveiled at the Jan 2025 Samsung Australia Unpacked event.

Pre-order boosted value offer valid from 5:00AM AEDT 23 Jan to 13th Feb 2025. After this period, the value of the eVoucher will revert to its original value of $20.

        • Sure, but you could use it as partial payment towards anything. I don't like the 'gamble' of it, but it's unlikely to be lost money.

    Conditions:
    1. Limited to only one (1) eVoucher per transaction

So if you use GALAXY2025 $200 e-voucher you might not able to use this $20 e-voucher no?

Samsung shop app 5% off for the first order?

  • Am I just blind or Samsung is not giving a big trade in bonus discount this time?

The real actual price credit this time looks very limited, don't think its worth it for non gamer.

Also warning to those who plan to trade in expensive handset, last round with S24 many got scammed and loose a lot of money (me included). My suggestion is if there is any trade in bonus coming, push your trade in value to $1 like others suggest in this site. Then sell your phone at CEX. But then if there is no trade in bonus, then no need…..

    • The trade in bonus is $300 for S25&+ and $400 on Ultra. Requires a unique code. People signed up for marketing emails recivied it in an email with the subject line of "The new Galaxy S25 Series: A true AI companion is here". You can also find the code inside the "Samsung Members" app on samsung devices.

The bulk of the phone has remained unchanged for the past 4 years.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is an incredible chip, it's a shame the rest of the device's camera sensors and battery capacity have largely remained the same.
