Boost Sim in Daughters Phone My Account

I am looking to set up my daughter’s phone obviously to young to have her own account. I’m with boost and I got her a boost sim for a year so how does this work I believe I was told it goes under my name how does this work?
It does not affect my account or my current boost sim right?
Just need to know the process and what I do here.

so how does this work I believe I was told it goes under my name how does this work?

That is how it works. You are the registered owner of the account.

It does not affect my account or my current boost sim right?

It appears as a 2nd service in your boost app. You have two services.

      Simple.
Why is OP making it sound so complicated?
We will get the same questions when OP buys a car for his daughter and wants to insure it in their name.

Copy and paste your first sentence into ChatGPT which will return a 371-word reply that's a good starting point.

I am looking to set up my daughter’s phone obviously to young to have her own account.

    ah yes obviously too young.

Yes/no, Boost requires 100 points of ID to register a new service, so you'll need photo ID like a drivers license or passport as part of activating the service, so this rules out most kids.

      • We have no indication of how old the daughter is at all lol

Oh but we do, you know the bit where the OP said she is "obviously" too young to have her own account. So safe to say she is under 18.

Unless you think she is 35 and the OP is being over protective?

          • @JimmyF: Yes under 18 so it would be set up in my name so when setting up sim in her phone it will ask Id etc which is fine, but it does not affect my current account as I’m already on boost?
Let’s just make it easy I will have two phones with two accounts ie numbers under my name one will be used by me and one by daughter

            • @bwatt72: Also consider there are other telcos that offer data transfer/gifting between accounts. I have five SIMs in my account and totally rate this benefit.

              • @sumyungguy: Not sure what you mean I have more than enough data, I never use it by end of year and most likely daughter would not either.
I just assume I set up her phone as if this was mine with and it’s like me having another phone with number.

When it expires I can carry on with boost for her or move to someone else.
I take when setting this up the process is done online.
The sim boost ain’t the same deals as what boost advertising now but this one is valid till later this year and I have to activate it before then.

                • @bwatt72: In my case I've switched to More monthly pre-paid 12GB $4 per month; the adults gift data to the TikTok addicts. Five of us are getting our telephony for $240 (total) for the next 12 months.

            • @bwatt72:

but it does not affect my current account as I’m already on boost?

We already covered this off, won't impact you at all. Just a 2nd account.

Let’s just make it easy I will have two phones with two accounts ie numbers under my name one will be used by me and one by daughter

Totally ok, most kids under 18yo do this as they don't have a drivers license/passport or their parents can't be bothered to grant permission, it is far easier to just put it under the parents name.

When the kid turns 18 and gets ID, you can do an account transfer into their name.

              • @JimmyF: All good so is this done online or over a call with boost?

                • +1

@bwatt72: Just follow the bouncing ball, start the activation process online and you'll be ok.

  • I’m in process of setting up this on daughters phone I’m logged into my boost with her phone and it’s asking me

We may need to add this number to your contact information

    Get new number

Keep my existing number from another provider

As I’m boost already and logged into my daughters phone with my Telstra id I don’t what to mess this up.
As my boost currently is my own this im setting up is for her.
I assume it’s we may need to add this number to your contact information

  • Actually it says to things after I enter the serial number of sim I yet to insert the sim

    It says
    Our recharge prices have changed
This change will be applied from the next time you recharge
View new recharge options which is a link

And obviously the one I said already

Would you like to keep your existing number or get a news new one
And below this as mentioned has

We may need to add this number to your contact information Get

    Get a new number

Keep my existing nunber from another provider

As mentioned im already on boost got an active boost account and setting up a phone for my daughter with her own boost account but obviously as mentioned needs to be under me I just don’t want to mess my boost up

  • Yes it is doable.
I have 2 boost sim under my account and 1 is used in my wife’s phone.
In the boost app, you can see both sims.

  • We may need to add this number to your contact information Get

I selected the above and now it ask required field

Get a new number or keep my existing number from another provider

I assume it’s get a new number but I am logged into my boost account and obviously I’m setting this up on her phone and i assume what it’s asking me is just for this and not affecting my current boost account and number

  • Obviously first time doing this and don’t want to mess up this sim of hers and mess up my account by selecting wrong stuff. I yet to put sim in phone just need to know what I’m selecting is correct

  • After reading this again probably it’s get a new number even though I’m logged into my boost this after all is another phone and sim and so will need get a new number. It just worries me it’may affecting my own nunber or current boost account

  • Or should I be setting up another boost account seperate to mine one just for daughter but my obviously my details?
But as said it was mentioned you can have two in one boost account.
I just need the above answers before I follow through just incase I make an error setting this up

  • All gone already done
