Hotel near Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port

I am cruising from Fort Lauderdale and need a reasonably priced hotel close to the port. (No laughing at reasonably; I know it is a joke with the Australian dollar.)

I am taking a 4-day cruise from Miami before this cruise, as the cost of that cruise is equal to a one-night stay in a hotel. So, anyone cruised from Fort Lauderdale can give me some advice.

booking.com broken? just use the map feature once you search for Fort Lauderdale

    • I have been checking Booking.com plus all the hotel groups I belong to. Asking here because hoping someone had a reasonable place they had stayed at.

    Fort Lauderdale

Not a place most people here are staying often to know the cheap places.

Open up the booking websites and start searching.

I am taking a 4-day cruise from Miami before this cruise, as the cost of that cruise is equal to a one-night stay in a hotel

So why not stay in this hotel for 1 night if its the same price as cruising.

Don't forget the price you see for US cruises is not the price you pay. Be prepared for the endless add ons like the daily gratuity fees for cruises.

For a couple its about $50AUD/day added to your bill.

    • Plenty of people go to customer service and remove the gratuities and just tip how they see fit. They don't stop you (for most cruise lines).

      • Sure they don't stop you, but they also don't like you doing it and if too many people do it, they'll change that.

The gratuities are built into the Australian cruise prices, as Australians don't like to tip. Nor is it really allowed under our pricing models.

This may not be as silly a post as some think, I have stayed in this area and it is scary/dangerous by any Australian standards. Making a decision based on price alone is a bad idea.

If you are looking for a day use hotel for cheap try the Rodeaway hotel. Not fantastic but super cheap to relax in.

Otherwise if you like the IHG brand and a nice, modern basic hotel try the avid hotel ft lauderdale airport location. You always get a free breakfast and they were pretty nice to us last time. Can also stay at the candlewood suites.

    • Thank you, this was the information I was looking for.

  • Stayed at the Hampton Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port last year. Was fine for one night with a (fairly junky) free breakfast, and they run a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (free), and from the hotel to the cruise port (cash required).
