It’s been up for hours. It’s mass cancellations.

    • +1

      :(

    • +3

Thanks for posting hours ago when you were aware

      • -1

        Well it’s not a bargain…

        • +1

At this rate getting any stock as MSRP is a bargain

      • +1

And wreck his chance of getting one?

  • Out of stock online is the message I get when trying to order one

  • Ordered an ETB about an hour ago expecting a cancellation. This has to be an error on their end.

      • Demand >>> Supply. It's not in Pokemon company's best interest to flood the market beyond demand.

      • Depends if it really is "max capacity". They'll do a large reprint I'm sure but won't come close to reaching demand. TPC are secretly loving this despite their public facing rhetoric.

  • +2

Kmart started listing them on their website later last night but they were marked out of stock.

Kmart online is absolute garbage to order from so definitely expect mass cancellations.

  • Eb sell for $100 how can kmart do $79?

    • +3

Because $79 is closer to RRP and EB Games know they can charge more

        Pokemon center is $100

        • Did it get released on Pokemon center?

          • +3

@Darkii: Pokemon center ones are different.
I believe it contains more packs and a promo with a Pokemon Center stamped promo which sells for more than the regular one, usually by 5-10x

        • The pokemon center ones are not the same as the standard ones.

I don't get it, what is so special about this set? I jumped in for the first time since I was 10 for 151. My partner and I enjoyed completing the base set of that. Not all the special art ones.

I think they've been printing less than they used to, so cards are rarer?

Also if you remember, pokemon cards were like $4 back when we were kids. Now they are $5. After 25 years of inflation. That means that comparatively, they're cheaper.

Also, tons of people in our age group have realized that there's no reasonable way forward to having a fulfilling life with a house wife and kids, so they are throwing their money into hobbies. $100 is not a big spend compared to the former

      • +2

        6-8 average booster pack price

      • Demand has increased 10 fold. They are not printing less. Pokemon printed record 11.9 billion cards in 2023. Has increased production every year. 2024 data not yet available.

      • They’ve printed more every year for every year. Too many speculators in the hobby and lots of influencers building up hype. That combined with mass scalpers is ruining the hobby.

        • -2

They definitely aren't printing as much as they were over COVID.

          • @pharcyde: Numbers have definitely gone up exponentially.

“It [Pokemon] had produced 1 to 2 billion cards per year, but ramped that up to 3.7 billion in 2020. From 2021 to 2022, it more than doubled that number, printing more than 9 billion cards, per data from the company. The next year, the number of printed cards increased once again, to nearly 10 billion. It should be no surprise the trend continued into 2024, where 12 billion cards were printed, bringing the total number of cards printed since the trading card game was first published to 64.8 billion.”

  • Kmart here are usually a good month behind on stocking new sets so the chance they had stock was 0

People are getting stupid with TCG now. Crash will come.

As if this doesn't have too much attention on it, someone posts it to OzB… yep smart move

    • It only really had a couple hundred clicks if that before it was OOS anyway so barely contributed

My son is getting into collecting Pokemon cards while I haven't a clue. Are these trainer boxes good to get for him?

    • This is the only type of product of this set which contains the most amount of booster packs (9 Packs), but will be very difficult to get your hands on them. I'd say wait as they have announced they are reprinting the set to meet demand.

      • Are these booster packs the same as the individual ones that are sold for $6 or $7 at Big W? Wouldn't those be cheaper than getting this which is more expensive for 9 packs? Sorry if it's a daft question, I'm just trying to understand the hype.

        • These booster packs will not be sold alone, unlike other sets. If you are planning to get your Son into collecting Pokemon cards, I'd suggest you head to EB Games as they tend to sell some packs for $5

          • @subblitsz: Ah ok, I saw videos on Reddit of mobs swarming Costco and Target and got me thinking what the hell.. but yeah, we've been going to EB Games to get those packs on offer. Thanks for explaining this to me!

  • Refunds coming through now

    • yep, all orders cancelled.

      • -3

all orders? how many did you make? what's your order number?

      • -2

Don't get upset because you lied.

        • +1

I meant all of MY orders were cancelled, chill out.

  • My local was showing stock of the poster collection, did an order, just got a text to say I can pick it up, not sure if I am more surprised at the fact that Kmart fulfilled an order or the fact that they had stock, either way I am happy, if your local store is showing stock of an item keep trying!

    • How do you do a click and collect order for something that has sold out online? I don't see an option to add to the cart

      • You need to add it to your wish list, then go to the page and constantly refresh it there’s about a 2 second window while it reloads to glitch it and add it to the cart. Or I have found if your local has stock and it’s registering for click and collect, in the Kmart app it will just let you add it to the cart without having to refresh via the Wishlist section.

        • When did you put your order through? Was it this morning?

          • @drakdaystar: Got an etb at around 5:08PM today which is interesting, may be a cancel lol.
