  • Night session tickets on Monday 20th Jan are heavily discounted.

    I wonder why ?

Did Tomic's mates decide not to turn up?

    • Knew how the results was going to go ;)

  • -1

    Bogan central.

  • upgrade does not grant entry to Australian Open precinct. Must be purchased in addition to valid ground pass ticket to provide arena access

  • +1

Looking at the schedule, looks like Monday is a rest day between the end of the fourth round and the quarter finals (for mens and womens singles)? That's probably why…

Edit: Although, Australia Open website still lists Men's fourth round and Women's fourth round as still happening on that day (despite no entries on the Google schedule). So who knows…

    • Yeah google doesn't have anything but AO schedule says continuing 4th rounds for men's and women's.

    • Trust Aus Open schedule over Google. Last year I thought the same thing, just checking Google but realised there were matches on the day I was looking at

  • -7

Kyrgios and Little Red Boy quitting after playing exactly 1 hour to make sure they get their appearance fee, didn't help…

  • -3

There are no matches on Monday!!! Beware

    • -1

Most people wouldn't notice the difference.

    • AO Schedule says something else

  • If it is too good to be true …it is ..

    Not a deal.

Just saw that Night session tickets on Monday 20th Jan are heavily discounted. $65 only. Unclear why. Day session tickets are still $149 for the same seats.

It's because the link you've included in this deal filters specifically on Arena Upgrade tickets, which are tickets you need to purchase in addition to ground pass tickets.

When you click the little ⓘ next to where it says 'Arena Upgrade', it says:

*upgrade does not grant entry to Australian Open precinct. Must be purchased in addition to valid ground pass ticket to provide arena access.

Here's the link for the same night session (20th Jan, Rod Laver) without 'Arena Upgrade' tickets filtered:

ground pass for Monday 20th Night is $19- so effectively $84 ticket. Still a good deal.

      • +1

Fair enough, but people should be aware of this before buying, otherwise people are going to rock up and realise they can't access the arena. Should be reflected in the deal title and description.

  • +2

Damn, can't believe the prices of AO now… remember when prices were $25 for ground pass?

  • +5

Also works for the day pass on Tuesday to the quarter finals - https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/event/2500612C8D5112C6?did=u…

There are some excellent seats still available for that too, at $189 + $35 for the day pass for tickets that otherwise cost $449.

I went through all the tickets and replaced "brand=ausopen" with "did=upgrade", if it shows a dollar amount it will let you buy, if it's $0 it won't. There's a couple of days in there, couldn't score cheap finals tickets though sadly!

    • That's an amazing hack! Didn't seem to work for Tuesday night which I'm kinda relieved about since I'm paying stupid amounts to go. Great way to get cheap seats for the day games though!

  • Nahh! The GOAT and other high seededs are playing, and the TV channels air so-called our unseeded boys and girls' matches.

    • The GOAT retired last year.

          • @jv: Unfortunately, only one left now, but fortunately we would be able to watch top seeds' matches on TV instead of unseeded ones.

  • Has anyone tried entering the open with just these upgrade tickets? I know it says you need a ground pass but I bought tickets and they have a barcode..

    • +1

I'm assuming it won't scan at the gate but could always risk it and hope ground pass still available to buy on the day if stuck

      • yeah wondering too

    • Hear from someone I know that they just showed a screenshot of a previous day’s ticket and were let in 🤷‍♂️

  • But who is playing on Monday?

    • +1

The schedule isn't released until 6pm the previous day.

    • Is this still working for anyone? Trying for night session on 19th for Rod Laver arena with no luck so far.

      • My bad, should have types upgrade instead of upgrades.

        • Got 3 tickets for my family. Exciting, thanks for sharing OP!

  • Has anyone confirmed their ticket worked entering the arenas?

  • Thanks to Cosmos only one Aussie left otherwise we would not be able to watch the top seeds' matches! ;)

  • +1

Unfortunately, appears to have been oz-bargained

    • Did they turn it off or ozbargained?

      • Yeah looks like it stopped working

  • +1

PSA in terms of coming and going from the arena the uppers are free flowing and the lowers enter 6-8 per game, so select the best seats in the uppers if you’re like me and need to pee when drinking. Select the lowers if people coming and going will annoy you.

    • Good advice!

Fwiw, we sat in the upper section of Rod Laver, and the arena is way smaller than I remember! (Havent been to the tennis since I was a kid, and have become accustomed to much larger arenas for sporting events!). The view was great, and I reckon you would probably have a good view from anywhere really.

  • Day schedule is much better than Night schedule today. 3 matches sab/andrev coco/bendic carlos/draper versus 1 djoker match and mens doubles.

Wouldnt be surprised if the night match starts late and then finishes early

    • +1

I'm kinda on the fence about this too. Snagged a night show ticket, but at least I'll see the Joker! Whoever got a day ticket today, wow, that's a steal.

      • Yep. Weird scheduling especially if you paid full price. They even put tommy paul over zverev. They drunk?

  • Anyone confirm you cant get with this upgrade ticket yet? If I am buying ground pass, is there still a concession/senior ground pass option for my dad? I dont see the option on Ticketmaster

  • +2

Thanks so much. Upgraded ground pass for today and currently sitting in Rod Laver. Additional benefit - the ground pass youth ticket makes the total cost even cheaper. Great result.

    • +2

Also currently sitting in Rod Laver for only $65, what an excellent deal. Thanks OP!

    • @Tigersboy @xJohnJohnsonx Great result guys, enjoy the day. Just out of interest, did they scan your ticket at the entrance or at rod laver?

      • +1

Ground pass ticket properly scanned on entry to park, and Rod Laver ticket only visually checked (i.e. no scan of barcode) upon entry to Rod Laver.

        • Exactly same.

  • +2

Well mine just got cancelled for tomorrow night, bugger. With quite a nasty email too
Also looks like they wont refund the fround pass but only the upgrade

    Hello,

Our records indicate that you have purchased a ground pass to arena upgrade for the Rod Laver night session on Sunday 19 or Monday 20 January 2025. Tennis Australia only lists arena upgrades for selected sessions via this page where ticket availability permits. The sessions you have upgraded for were never listed on the above page. Therefore, your purchase is illegitimate and these tickets will not be valid for entry to Rod Laver Arena.

As per the Tennis Australia ticket conditions of sale and entry, if you have behaved in breach of these conditions (or where TA has been so directed by M&OP or a law enforcement agency), TA may terminate the licence to enter the AO and deny the holder of the ticket access to the AO or any area within the AO, cancel or confiscate the ticket, or take other action TA considers appropriate including but not limited to cancelling or confiscating any other tickets to the AO held in your name, without refund.

As a show of good faith, Tennis Australia have requested Ticketmaster to refund the upgrade only and not cancel any ground pass or other ticket purchased legitimately on these days. If you would like to purchase arena tickets legitimately for the above sessions (pending availability), please do so via Ticketmaster website.

    • Tickets disappear from your account?

      • Nope still there

  • Shit!! Got tickets are cancelled message wtf. What to do

  • Same, tickets cancelled, sad.

  • +3

Sorry everybody, looks like they wised up to it. Updated deal to Expired status. Kudos to @Lemsip21 for the trick to find upgrades to other sessions and for all those who were able to get in for Morning session today, and sessions yesterday!

  • I also got the same email/SMS - the tickets are still appearing on my ticketmaster account though. I wonder when they will be revoked and put up for sale again, something to keep an eye on in case they dont action the cancellation.

    • +3

It was a good tactic by them to get the extra revenue

  • +5

Tickets also cancelled… Which is fine if they weren't meant for purchase (not sure how they got on the website then) but then they have the cheek to send that strongly worded email, acting as if I was being illegitimate and was the person doing something wrong. Bunch of kn*bs

    • +1

Totally. TM covering up a mistake with bluster and going OTT, hiding behind TA wording that was likely intended for scalpers. Classically incompetent but that shouldn't be a surprise by now.

  • Sent an email via ticketmaster asking for a groundpass refund and an apology.
Got the refund in 20 mins and a weak apology email.

    Thanks for reaching out.

We offer sincere apologies for the inconvenience that this has cause on your end.

We would like to have you informed that the Event Organiser has approved your refund. A total cost of $38.00 for the Night Ground Pass tickets will be issued to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase and be reflected in your account within 3-5 business days, depending on your bank’s processing time.

  • +3

To be honest they made so much money they should have just let this one slide. It was just 3/4th round tennis so while there were savings it wasnt back breaking.

    • -2

There's no way they could right. They've got the Women's 2nd seed playing tonight, as well as de Minaur

  • I also - separately - received an email this morning with an offer to upgrade my ground pass for today. I assume same happens every day? I guess they had all urls accessible, when they shouldn’t have? And I also guess - if they’d cancelled mine for today, I could’ve simply gone in and purchased the same tickets anyways.

Sorry to those on later days. But I must say - $65 upgrade has been awesome. Watched female #1 play, female #3 and the men’s singles game to go. So good!

    • Yeah, I would assume it is a last minute (day-of) upgrade offer they send out to groundpass holders on the day, to try and fill seats that otherwise would likely be empty.

Obviously they coded it incorrectly, and made them visible / purchasable before they were intended to be!

    • Did you get an offer for day or night?

      • Me? I had a day pass. And I believe the offer was for a day ticket upgrade. Tried to look for the email or app message, but can’t find it. But definitely received one on the morning of my day pass (yesterday).

  • Does Ground pass allow access to unreserved seats of Kia arena, 1573 arena or John Cain Arena?

  • Mine got cancelled so watching on TV. So many empty seats in the stadium so they obviously don’t care about lost revenue. Crazy.
