Lots of Dual cab ute for the money, the cheapest says it has a ZF 8-Speed Automatic. That is a good box.

What is the 2.0L Turbo Diesel like?

    • I think the LDV T60 equivalent has 160kw of power, and 500nm of torque. This GWM has 120kw, and 400nm torque. But from the reviews I have seen, this GWM is a bit nicer to drive, and has some great features, like the drop down ladder into the tray.

      • +6

All I can see from reviews and Facebook groups is the LDVs are pretty rubbish. Saw a video of a mechanic going through one showing the chassis spray protection only being sprayed from one direction (multiple faces of the same chassis component being totally uncoated).

        • +4

A case in Queensland of an LDV ute rusting prematurely. LDV blamed the owner for parking it near the sea! Court found against LDV.

          Avoid at all costs.

      • +4

I drove the LDV T60 back to back against the Cannon, it's a night and day difference. The T60 is rough as guts, feels about 10 years behind form a construction/build quality standpoint. Although the power train has more power and torque, it uses it like crap. The Cannon didn't feel it was losing out on anything. now, this is just with me in it, not loaded up.
The 2025 2.4L will be better though.

The T60 has no model with reach adjustment on the steering wheel, fine if you are short and have seat forward, but for tall people, I felt like the T60s steering was between my knees. I knew within 3 metres it was not going to be an enjoyable drive. I was happy to get the hell out of it. I could live with the Cannon.

Can this beat a Hilux, RAM or Ranger at a traffic light drag race.

    • +3
      • These guys need to do a John Deere serie.

        • +3

Can this, Hilux, RAM, Ranger, Triton, or Amarok beat Shark 6?

    • +4

Depends which Tool is driving…… and how quick they need to get to the bar

      • +1

        please… School pick-up.

        • +6

You need a Porsche Cayenne, AMG G63, BMW X9, Range Rover, Landcruiser or similiar for school pickups

          • +1

@easternculture: I'm not talking about picking up their kids ;)

            • +2

@TexasVujicic: Oh, the soccer/single/divorced mums you mean. Now i follow you.

P.S. its like a car show when i pickup my kids from school in Greenacre (private school). Ive even spotted a mum in a lambo and ferrari picking up her kiddo.

                @easternculture:

                the soccer/single/divorced mums you mean.

Complete with joker mouth/ duck lips (or both), fake tits, tramp-stamps, activewear and Karen attitude……err no thanks.
Hollyweird (or the Gold Coast) has a lot to answer for.

Oh, the soccer/single/divorced mums you mean. Now i follow you.

maybe ask ChatGPT what he meant lol.

    • What about a road-rage punch-on?

      • Huh? How often do you see 150cm meatball midgets fight?

    • Not but it can beat the hilux and ranger in an off road track

      • How bout if i throw in a few f words and a finger or 2?

    • Seriously? You think this can beat a 300 kW Hemi V8? lol

You'd probably want to get the 2.4L Alpha, but the price looks a bit less competitive and by that point I'm looking at the Triton with a 10 year warranty, >2x the dealerships, better parts availability, more aftermarket support, etc… Those things really matter when your ute is actually used for work.

Good deal if your ABN is actually for your Sunday market stall 🙂

    • +5

Those things really matter when your ute is actually used for work.

That rules out 90% of ute purchases then..

      • Haha, adecent amount, yeah… but this ad is meant to be for ABN holders so is aimed at those who should be using it as a business vehicle.

    • I’ve heard the 9 speed auto in them is having some problems. Same with the Tank 300 hybrid.

  • They are very competitive. I do not think Elo can make EV version of these.

    • -5

Oh he can't, that's why he's going to eliminate the competition by influencing entire countries to block Chinese cars.
Twitter was the best purchase he ever made, he commands the world!

      • +1

Except, his biggest factory is in China.

        • I'm not saying he will block Chinese-made cars because that would be a bad idea; I'm saying he will block Chinese-owned cars (even the ones that are made outside of China). Those are the real threats to Tesla.

          • @FujinShu: Don't worry he's owned by CCP. Have you ever seen him talking negatively about China? But UK, Brazil and Germany…..lets leave it there.

      • Chinese worshipped Elon, especially when he became the richmest man on earth officially (on paper). Chinese car makers benefited from copying Tesla innovation and using free patents. The challenge with most Chinese firms, they may not be able to make ground breaking products unless they have something to copy/ innovate to improve. I am not offending Chinese but after visiting china recently.

        • +1

Japanese were and still are the same, but you now perhaps drive a Japanese car. It, for sure, takes time. e.g. they bought IBM personal computer division but they improved it alot. Btw, I only drive manual transmission Das Auto.

  • +1

Can this drive up a slight incline? not sure if this or Shark

  • -1

GWM definitely make thoughtful and quality vehicles. Maybe the best Chinese owned and made cars?

    • The Haval H6 has been a top-selling SUV in China for several years. Notably, it led the SUV segment for 103 consecutive months since its launch in 2011, which equates to approximately 8 years.

  • +1

What's stopping someone from applying for a sole trader ABN (for PSI) online 5 minutes before buying vehicle?

    • +1

I don't think the dealer really cares. I bought a Triton recently and the saleswoman said an active or inactive ABN would be fine.

  • +3

All we need now is a mega thread for sharing ABN's.

    • +4

Just do what all the dodgy tradies do and use Bunnings' ABN.

  • +1

Pardon my ignorance but of what benefit is it to the OEM if the purchaser has an ABN or not? Genuine question….

    • +1

Opportunity to stitch them up with finance. So long as they say majority use is for business then it’s easier to get finance. No abn means you don’t even get to ask the question

  • Good deals for young tradies starting out

  • +1

Not a fan of these giant Utes but my god the value is insane.

  • +3

    Wish they released single cabs
Tray on a dual cab is too small for most trades.

  • Drove one as a rental. Worst car I’ve ever driven. Couldn’t pay me to drive one.

  • That haval h6gt phve looks tempting

  • Any negative consequences to applying for an ABN purely to purchase a vehicle?

Can the vehicle still be registered as private use?

  • These guys also make Range Rover and Jaguar (same factory anyway).
