[PC, Steam] Assetto Corsa Evo - $37.83 + $0.79 Paypal Fee (Originally $58.95) @ Instant Gaming

430

Assetto Corsa Evo (Early Access) just got released at midnight and I grabbed this deal on Instant Gaming. Can confirm it works on Steam and downloading. They send you a Steam key the moment you purchase and can use that on your Steam Account.

Steam is also having an introductory offer at $47.16

Edit: Just finished downloading the game and can confirm the game launches

Edit2: Thought I'd add that Instant Gaming customer service is also pretty good from experience. They issued a refund for a friend who bought the version that was locked to Latin America, which didn't work and they gave him a refund instantly

I also found out that the EU, US and Canada version is "ROW" (which stands for Rest of World) so definitely shouldn't have any issues with any potential region locking in the future (unless Australia itself gets region locked out of the ROW version). But seems unlikely just going by the previous AC games - they didn't seem to region lock Australia to its own region so we should be fine.

Works. Was a little nervous as after I had paid saw it doesnt list Oceania. But it works. Thanks saved me almost 10bux.

    • +2

Yeah, I just finished downloading and can confirm that the game launches!

  • +2

The reception doesn't seem great for this so far (at least according to Steam reviews), but it's a good price if you know what you're getting into and have the patience for it to improve.

    • +3

Keep in mind that it is still in Early Access so expect bugs and whatnot. A lot of the complaints on Steam Review seems to be about offline features being locked behind an "online requirement" - game is in Offline mode only atm

Price-wise, I think it's incredibly cheap for a new game.

      • +2

It took the original assetto corsa a while to get going well, this has always been the way for sim titles, hugely complex games with usually very small dev teams. These games aren't made by AAA studios. People expecting perfection on day one will be disappointed, I like being a long for the ride. There's plenty of racing games to satisfy most until ACE is complete

      • -4

It's not a new release game though.

It's just a pre-beta release of a game in development.

How is paying $38 to play a partially developed offline-only product "incredibly cheap" ???

        • +5

Because you also get the 1.0 game by buying now

          • -2

@PhatTofu: You don't even know if it will get to a 1.0 release ……………

            • @BargainHunter9876543: It's Assetto Corsa….it'll get a 1.0 release……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

              • +1

                @DevlicK:

                It's Assetto Corsa….it'll get a 1.0 release……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Unless stated explicitly, they legally don't have to give it to you.

also, many things could happen, could go belly up and what not.

                • -1

@dukeGR4: Yeah, I agree they don't but I'm happy to pay for it nonetheless. I like my chances

                  • +1

@DevlicK: How are you finding it so far compared to stock AC?

                    • -1

@dukeGR4: I've only done a couple laps on the controller yesterday but so far I'm impressed. I'll let you know once I have a chance to jump into my sim

        • +1

it's like investing a startup. You "hope" they will deliver

          • +2

@spad: That analogy is probably more appropriate for indie games with no proven track record.

            • -3

@DevlicK: The game's developers are literally a small Indie company form Italy.

              • @BargainHunter9876543: I get where you're coming from, I personally don't think I've ever paid for a single game in Early Access.
But I have personally opened up to the idea for proven developers, especially if the game looks satisfying within the current or expected upcoming EA state. In that case, I'd be open to paying upfront and accepting that risk.

                • -3

@PhatTofu: Why would you pay for a demo ?

                  • +3

@BargainHunter9876543: We aren't paying for a demo, we are pre-ordering a game and getting access to parts of it until finished.

                  • @BargainHunter9876543: You seem to struggle to understand the difference between a demo game and an early access game.

We're not paying for a demo. We're paying for a game which is currently in the early-access phase. A demo would not give you full access to the game nor will it update as improvements and features get rolled out.

At the end of the day, sim racing is a niche genre and this deal is for those that want to preorder the game at a discount

              • -1

@BargainHunter9876543: Yes but they're a proven indie company with a track record.

Go back and read my comment and see how your comment doesn't work

                • -3

@DevlicK: They have a proven track record of being a co-developer for a grand total of 1 game of moderate success……

                  • -1

@BargainHunter9876543: And that's enough? I feel more confident paying for an early access game from a company that's dedicated to creating a game that it specialises in than preordering titles that cost over $80 which turn out to be major flops from say, big developers like EA that rolls out garbage cash-grab games without the players in mind.

Look, no one is forcing you to buy the game when it's in early access. It's literally less than $40 for a sim racing game.

If you don't feel comfortable paying for it, there is a very simple solution - don't pay for it.

If you feel like it's your mission to convince everyone that they shouldn't spend their own money for the game they want, feel free. But you're just making a fool of yourself

                  • @BargainHunter9876543: 1 game?
                    1. Assetto Corsa
                    2. Assetto Corsa Competizione
Neither of which were co developed and global sales of over 28 million. I'd say that's more than moderate success for just 2 games (not counting any of their earlier games, just the AC series). plus they now also have AC Evo.

  • +2

I went with direct through steam so if its a dumpster fire i can refund

    • Fair but at least we're not paying $80+ for a dumpster fire new game

      • yea i thought the steam price of $47 was actually pretty reasonable, no doubt going to be higher by release.

Unlike LMU thats around $140 with all DLC in early access

  • +2

It's also available on GamersGate for $42.44 if you're not comfortable with grey market sellers.

use code GGD for 10% off

FWIW I've played half an hour with a controller and am very impressed. Plays really well, looks absolutely stunning, and is locked 120fps on my rig. No server issues for me, I think they've fixed that already

    • Curious because I read some people saying it doesn't seem designed for controller. What controller, and did it work out of the box, or required full mapping of controls?

      • +1

I used an xbox controller (as I was just testing it out and couldn't be bothered jumping into my sim) and it worked straight out of the box.

Agree with @jk82 that it plays decently on controller.

  • PayPal fee.. is this normal?

Seems I have no been paying attention to my PayPal purchases.

    • On these kind of stores its pretty normal. Sometimes on particular CC (ie. Amex or other) too.

  • Works thanks OP. Game downloading in steam

Which is more expensive, where’s the bargain?

  • Awesome. Paid $37.63 AUD with yuplay, with the 5% off new user code.

    https://www.yuplay.com/product/assetto-corsa-evo/?partner=22…

Price may have come down since?

  • Apparently vr performance is utter garbage :(

  • its listed as " Europe & USA & Canada" would this cause region issues after GA?

    • +1

Shouldn't have issues with EU, US and Canada region as it is the most common region for region-locking purposes. Australia doesn't usually have it's on region and usually follows either EU or US or both

I'm also able to play it now which should provide some comfort

    • +3

For this game, it appears the publisher has not opted to split out the key redemption into regions at this time.

      https://steamdb.info/app/3058630/subs/

You can see there's only a single sub at the moment, so they can't apply region locking without it being a global lockout.

Many other large publishers do split them out by region though, usually to facilitate region specific pricing.

It also does not rule out it happening in the future.

I'd still probably end up going to fanatical instead, as others have suggested over this seller… Although racing games aren't really my thing.

      • +2

        Good due diligence!

So I found out that the EU, US and Canada version is "ROW" (which stands for Rest of World) so definitely shouldn't have any issues with any potential region locking in the future (unless Australia itself gets region locked out of the ROW version). This is actually a great deal for something that will continue to cook for 6 or so months. We should look at this as a huge plus to get an early access at sub $40 price and devs have come out to say they will listen to feedback.

If you've played AC or ACC you know that the end result is a fantastic finished product. Kunos will nail this, but please remember its still a Beta.

This could be an add to your library, play it for 4-5 hours, come back in 6 months when version 1.0 is launched to something brilliant!

Great day for sim racers out there :)

      • Used :(

  • On the Instant Gaming website in the cart it says "Warning, our codes for this game are NOT AVAILABLE in your country!" is that an issue?

    • Not an issue. I and several others have successfully applied the steam key and launched the game

  • Ozbargain, one of the few places where there’s actually a great chance someone won’t say “Just go iRacing bro if you’re a serious sim racer!” lmfao. 🤪

Never understood why you’d discount other sims. They all hit differently. Despite playing iRacing the most myself too.

Great price and no doubt Kunos will keep working hard!

  • +2

God I cannot wait until they add the Nordschleife and all the surrounding areas.

  • I get the following message when I have the game in the shopping cart "Warning, our codes for this game are NOT AVAILABLE in your country!"

Has something changed in regards to the code being functional in Australia?

    • +1

You can safely disregard the warning message. The version you are buying is ROW (which stands for Rest of World). Australia is included in this version. The only region that is region locked out of ROW is Latin America

Several people (myself included) has bought this version (US, EU, Canada) and can confirm its working

      • Thankyou for explaining👍

my 1070 runs this at about 4 fps

    • +1

bought this thinking i can play on minimum graphics and boy was I wrong. Saved $27 and now need a new PC.

      • $300 3070ti arrives monday but i got no hope considering most 4090s are running at 40fps. I guess we all dont have them 10k setups jensen was talking about hahaha

        • I have seen some YouTube videos reporting big FPS gains when trying certain settings combinations.

I honestly think there are some issues that are causing bad FPS atm and I have a feeling the performance will increase across the board as they iron out these problems during early access 🤞

          Here is one example below:

Just a heads up for anyone still going for this deal. I found a slightly cheaper price at ENEBA, I just paid $34.76 by using the AKS13 code for an extra 13% off.

    https://www.eneba.com/steam-assetto-corsa-evo-pc-steam-key-g…

I activated it on Steam no problems 👍 and for those unfamiliar with ENEBA, I have bought over 40 different game codes from them in the past and never had a problem.

Thankyou @DevlicK for your original post that ultimately led me to this deal, cheers 🍻 I think this will eventually turn out to be a massive bargain price, when more and more improvements are made and new content is added to the game, at least that's what I'm banking on! 😅
