Access to Media Sites That Are behind A Paywall

I was using a program called something like no more pay walls and they stopped updating it.

I updated to latest one manually, still doesn't work.

Anyone got a simple way to get access behind media firewalls again?

Seems like the Daily Telegraph have fixed archive from working still. I only use it for the local news lol

Yeah, 12ft is probably the best option.

There's browser extensions out there that will let you 'bypass paywalls' but I can't remember what they are called.

      it's been removed.

Wow, you've posted that an extension I am currently using, that I can also currently visit its github page has been removed. Do you bother to investigate anything or do you just post without ever putting any thought into it because you are such a titan of experience?

    archive.is

    archive.ph

Never had an issue with either of them, plus it archives the link permanently for others to access.

I updated to latest one manually, still doesn't work.

I set up a pc with it a few weeks ago with an old version of the extension and it works fine.

          you know best jv.

That's fine, you keep trusting the Russian developers….

@jv: Why? The source code is on github

            • -1

@Bruceflix: you can’t trust everything on GitHub to be benign.

              • +2

@jv: What about to be beten

              • @jv: No, you said to trust them, I don't need to trust them because i can go through the source code myself to look for anything malicious. Again, you post without thought.

because i can go through the source code myself

                  do you?

              • @jv:

                trust everything on GitHub

Well, when I have the ability to read and process the code, I trust and do some vetting before use.

C’mon jv… tech not your strong suit..?

    • I also use the 'Skinny' extension to fix up the one's that appear too wide.

I use firefox with ublock origin and the following as a custom filter.

    Works on Android too.

  • Have you tried disabling the Java script on the page you are trying to view?
If not, here are some instructions:

Using Chrome go to the page you want to access, press F12 on your keyboard, this will bring up a (script/code) screen to the right hand side.
At the top is the gear icon, click this and then scroll to the bottom.
Near the bottom there will be a check box that says ‘disable Java script’.
Click this, refresh the page using the refresh icon in the top left of the chrome page.
Click F12 again to close the script/code window and see if this stops the paywall pop up.

I have not tried this on News sites, but it does work for me in HBR and Forbes. Good luck.

  • For some of the softer paywalls, Firefox enter reader view works for me.
