AUSTRALIA'S TRUSTED NETWORK Tangerine uses the Telstra wholesale mobile network

    fyi

    • Are you highlighting as a positive or negative?

    • Yes, we were specifically looking for a sim on the Telstra network as had been using Optus in this past year and had several data issues when we went on holidays up the coast and inland Vic. Don't trust Vodafone will be any better than Optus. Was looking for Boost actually but found Tangerine instead for now.

Hubby never had an issue on Telstra, so we decided to look for sim on Telstra for me too.

  • Anyone got experience with coverage and call centres? Will I regret the switch?

    • I just signed up today as looking to replace my Amaysim that expires tomorrow. So easy to activate the esim. Called the call centre twice for help and all sorted. I wasn't sure of what they told me in the first call to activate, so wanted to double check by calling back.
      Coverage is perfect.

Hubby and I were looking for Telsrra coverage, and he found the Tangerine deal.

They also have good NBN plans so I swapped to their NBN plan today too after checking their prices. 6 mths NBN at $25/mth off. Luckily, or present NBN billing cycle ends also in 2 days so timing for switching both mobile and NBN worked out.

when are these MVNO's opening up smart watch data??

    • Was supposed to be by the end of 2024… Still silence though 😑

These are monthly prices, not the price for 4 months.

What!!! Outrageously misleading, reported to mod.

    • Thank you!

  • if i travel abroad for holidays can i still recieve texts free of charge like amaysim with this carrier?

  • Hasn't it been this price for a few weeks now?

    • Maybe, but I looked on OB for Telstra carrier and couldn't find this. Trying to avoid Optus and Vodafone this time around due to issues when we went on holidays up north, down south and visited family outside Sydney. In contrast, my husband who is on Telstra through work never had a problem.

  • If you sign up with their NBN , you can get double data for the first four months if I remember correctly ⁉️
Haven't used the Sim yet as it hasn't arrived but I'm expecting it to be reasonably good 🤔

  • How soon does the SIM need to be activated?

    • 15 days after receiving it , from memory.

      • Thanks!

  • This should support E-sim too?

      Next question?

    • Yes. Signed up for esim today.

PSA: They were hacked due to their indifference in protecting your data

Tangerine don't care about your data at all and hold on to customer data even when customers leave their service. I left their service in November 2023 and still had my data compromised in their breach in February 2024. Don't support companies that don't look after data.

    • I was with Tangerine NBN until Jan 2024 so had my data breached also. Luckily my drivers licence was not disclosed.

In contrast, the Optus data breach exposed my driver's licence number 10 years after I stopped being their customer. Luckily, we didn't have to replace our drivers licence as it was an old number.

In last few years, both husband and I had to change our drivers licence though due to multiple breaches from Lattitude 28 Degrees, my superannuation, etc. The ATO had even blocked my online access due to the breach of my super. Real pain.

  • Joined today comign from telstra proper (via jb). Getting a fifth ofnthe speed i was getting on telstra. Spoke to rep they said there was an outage, will see how it goes

  • Has the double date offer expired? I ask because there is no mention of it on the link???
