Why do I feel like supporting Jeff instead of Gerry is the lesser of two evils?

  • Anything special on Epix Pro Gen2 range, compare to Fenix 7pro or 8?

Is it only for athletes, as I only want to keep records of basic healthy information, like heart/blood measurement, etc.

Would Apple Watch be more suitable to me?

      blood measurement in litres?

If you're just after basic health information, you're definitely overpaying if you are considering the Fenix and Epix watches.

What metrics are you after specifically? Otherwise I'd suggest looking at a different range, unless you have money to burn.

I've been using a Venu 2s for the past 3 years and am looking to get more detailed health & exercise metrics - looking at upgrading to the Fenix 7s pro sapphire solar as I dont want a large watch, and I think i'll appreciate the MIP screen better.

None of these watches will measure blood pressure, although it's very important to monitor and keep in normal range.
Any exercise/smart watch will measure your heart rate at rest and during activities. This is very useful for exercise, and almost entirely meaningless outside of exercise.
Everyone is to some extent an 'athlete' as everyone should be aiming for ~150 minutes of activity a week at a minimum, a smart watch is an excellent way to track this. Garmins tend to be suited to people working towards specific goals in running, cycling or swimming, they have better features for this, but worse smart features. Apple Watches do a fine job of tracking exercise generally, and have better smart features. There are relatively minute differences between all the Garmin SKUs - I would trawl through DC rainmaker to compare feature sets. The biggest difference is Epix Pro and Fenix 8 have AMOLED screens while Fenix 7 is transflective which gives better battery life and is easier to read in sunlight but looks significantly worse. I would recommend a forerunner 165 or 265 over these unless you have a particular use case for them.

Apple watch charge every day or 36 hours.

Garmin 7-16 days. i get 14 days with some GPS usage on weekends.

Torch on the watch (very underrated feature)

Sapphire screen - my son has bashed it with a metal cup many times and hit ladders etc. not one scratch.

I bought this during BlackFriday from Garmin @ $899. It's such an excellent watch, so pleased with the upgrade from Forerunner 945.

I bought this during the last sale from Amazon using the 10% GC. No regrets…great bit of kit.

Functionality, connectivity to GPS, variety of sports, morning reports, flashlight, etc.

  • I was about to complain about Garmin still not supporting ECG in Australia (this watch has the Elevate V5 sensor that supports ECG) but this feature is supported as of 16 hours ago! https://www.garmin.com/en-US/newsroom/press-release/wearable…

  • The 51mm version is still $999 with Amazon.
Unless it's too big for you I'd consider it over the 47mm as the battery is outstanding.
