Replacement Charger for MacBook Air 13

Hi all, my son has lost his charger for his MacBook Air (bought last year).

Just wondering what the OzB suggested replacement is? Just any old 30w charger? Something more powerful? Looks like the Apple version is $59. Am I better off with a 65w similar to this instead?

Thanks

Anker one would be fine. Would also consider Belkin.

I haven't even used my original charger. I often charge my MBA overnight from a Samsung phone charger or from a multiport charger(Satechi 165w).

I'd stick to a reputable brand name or Apple itself. While cheapies may work at first, they can carry some risk.

The MacBook Air will need a USB-C PD charger capable of 30-35 watts, anything below that will be quite slow and possibly not keep the laptop charged under a high workload (unlikely scenario but still). No huge benefit to going higher wattage in this case, it may charge a little faster but the 35 is adequate.

I second this. I bought a cheap charger for an old macbook pro, and it fried the laptop. Never again.

    • thanks :)

Yep better off getting something faster than 30W which struggles to both power and charge the Air at a decent rate - Highly recommend the Nano II 65W I use it as my travel charger for my MacBook Pros it's much more compact than the Apple offerings.

        A 65W Anker should be plenty…

pretty much any reputable brand GaN charger that doesn't explode (Hymix: someone said my name?)

65w would be a decent capacity to charge a MBA along with a phone altogether.

GaN charger pretty much all have typeC port with PD charging protocol, and that'd be enough for a Macbook air.

  • If your Mac uses USB-C to charge, you can safely use a power adaptor or display with higher or lower wattage than the adaptor included with your Mac.
