Hi recently purchased a TCL TV C855 (thanks the wonderful people of ozbargain) .
I wanted to purchase a soundbar for it.
- Maybe 3.1 channel with 1 subwoofer.
- Budget around 500$
- The TV C855 supports eARC
- Should work with my xbox too
Also noticed JbHifi is having a 15% off sale on soundbars today (not sure if its really a sale).

that will go way over my budget .. just looking for something not too complicated… I dont think I would appreciate that level of audio

If you're not caring about the sound quality, then most sound bars that fit your budget will be better than the TV speakers.
Hey man. Have you considered a pair of active 2.1 speakers and a subwoofer? The active speakers are easier to set up than a dedicated HT system with an amplifier, because the amplifier is built into the speakers. The speakers plug into your orange AV 3.5mm jack on your TCL. Then you can take time to get a subwoofer at a later point, and the sub plugs straight into the back of the active speakers.
I recently purchased the Edifier QR65 with a sub and I promise you it will blow any mid range soundbar out of the water. You can also stream high quality Bluetooth music through the speakers when not playing on tv. The speakers are currently on sale for an amazing price at centrecom. $279. They sound way more expensive than their price point. An edifier sub will cost you another 179. You'll have better sound for less.
Having said all that, I am also pro soundbar. Any soundbar you get will be a huge improvement over tv audio. And the soundbar set up will be easier than a 2 1 hifi system.
Agree with the above - for a little more than $500 you could get some passive bookshelves(maybe ~$250), a $100 FOSI 2.1 amp and a $250 voll S8 subwoofer (if they ever go back in stock).
Get some nice passive speakers off marketplace and it'll sound (and look) great.
Also how are you finding the tv? I plan to purchase same model at next sale.

looks good.. I wonder if jbhifi would price beat
if it's a dedicated media room get an ATMOS amplifier and 5.1 dedicated speakers.
You can pick up some decent B&W, FOCAL, even Jamo if you want bang for buck from Facebook Marketplace for not a lot.
I have a Samsung Q600 Atmos capable soundbar and its ok not great
