  • do people buy these for 2nd laptop screen or mobile phone?

    • For me a laptop. Works well when you work in a lot of different locations and lugging around a big ass desktop monitor is impractical. Unlike this classic

    • I use one with touchscreen as a Home Assistant dashboard

      • +1

What is the touchscreen connected to?

        • Home Assistant, apparently ;P

    • It seems not many mobile phones have a video out signal (I wish mine, a POCO M5s, did; I was looking to replace my tablet with an OLED one, and was considering buying a portable monitor instead — no can do).

      • Samsung and Motorola are the big ones. It's still a novelty when so many apps aren't optimised for the big screen and desktop mode.

      • Pixel 9 pro works.

  • I kinda miss those cheap portable monitors from AliExpress. Wonder if those deals will ever come back?

    • +2

I don't post them because of the poor exchange rate.

      • Ah, makes sense.

    • -1

Sorry, accidentally shared referral link instead of generic. This one on AliExpress for $85 delivered. 16.1" 144hz 1080p IPS supposedly.

      • Zero reviews, but looks like it is possible to get the price down to $42 USD or less than ~$70 AUD after tax using coins and store promo codes. Definitely worth a punt at this price, thanks!

      • +3

That's a fake store. Have fun with whatever they send you. I'd film the unboxing for an easier dispute.

Seriously check the other listings. A 34" Samsung 144Hz curved monitor for US$74. All the other listings have Scam in the Q&A section and the whole store has 100% feedback simply because they have 8 blank 5 star reviews.

        • +1

Was browsing through the other listings and kinda suspected the same, thanks for confirming my suspicions 😅

  • Can you power the monitor with a power bank ?

    • +1

Yes. All the USB-C portable monitors can be. Even a USB port on a computer can do it, though you may find the brightness to be less with a 4.5W draw.

      • Would a more powerful powerbank fix that? Or is 4.5W limitation on the monitor side?

        • +1

          Yes.

  • Been on the lookout for one of these to use for portability and testing security NVRs. Bought a few adaptors, lets see how it goes.

    • Hi @geekcohen, did you end up getting this? I am thinking of getting one for same purpose for my home NVR.

      • Yes, but its still in the box. I should get to it today if you want some feedback.

        • +1

Yep, whenever you get a chance that would be great. I’m looking to have it permanently set up in a linen cupboard where the NVR is located - rather than the current oversized 24 inch monitor that sits there.

          • @Rhys925: It turns out it comes with a bunch of cables already, so I didn't need some of the cables I bought! But I tried it on my laptop, and it's pretty good. It comes with speakers built in which are okay.

Comes with a little protective pouch as well. I needed to increase the brightness but it is fantastic! Very happy with it! Would be perfect for an NVR in the cupboard for sure. But this would be great for on the go and you wanted an extra screen on a laptop.

            • +1

@geekcohen: Awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to provide the review!

              • @Rhys925: Not a problem. I'm probably going to buy another one.

  • There are other brands like Arzopa and MagicRaven with mixed reviews. Are they all about the same quality at this price range?

  • The promo code is no longer working?

    • The code now is available again mate.

  • Want to spend more WFH on the front deck this year so been waiting for a decent deal on one of these. Thanks Clear! :)

  • The same promotion code TCOROGTB is available right now if anyone wants to get this.
The monitor looks really OK in 2 video reviews but only 1 general review is not enough for me to pull the trigger.

    • IMHO Better to pay a bit more on Amazon and have easy returns if it's not up to par compared with buying from Aliexpress for cheaper and finding the same thing and having to go through Aliexpress to get a return/refund.

      • I've found returns to AliEx/Temu pretty easy. OTOH, I once bought a phone through Amazon, and had to fight an uphill battle to get the seller to honour the lightening sale when they simply cancelled it, once the deal was done.

        • +1

I must admit I've had a couple of Aliexpress issues and they've been resolved pretty much straight away with a credit, but they've only been like sub $5 items with bad stitching or something. Just wondering how I'd go with something like a cluster of bad pixels on a monitor……..In my head Amazon SHOULD be easier :)

touchscreen ones can be had for much the same price tho

  • +2

Been using this monitor for the last few days. Really good quality for the price and very light.

Can power up from my power bank and very minimal lag with gaming with my switch

  • +1

It’s better than expected 😁 I was concerned it would be a junk 45%ntsc screen.
I was waiting for ages for a screen with a good stand and plugs that are further inward so they don’t hang out the side of the monitor. This model is quite tidy.
Thanks for posting the deal 👍

    • Can anyone comment on if the in-built stand allows for the unit to sit in a portrait orientation with some stability?

      • Yes it does if you put the stand out at 90deg it stands portrait at a regular laptop viewing kind of angle, the angle can’t be adjusted of course 👍

      • You can also use the stand to hangoff bracket or mount

  • Awesome, thanks for info, shall be receiving mine tomorrow!

  • 20% off promo not working anymore?

  • +1

Received this day and pretty impressed with it for the price. I mean the controls feel cheap and janky but don't know how often I'll use them anyway once setup. I like the fact that the controls and inputs are recessed and not directly on the sides.

Note there's a new 20% off code now for those that missed out.

Question though has anyone had their notebook (Lenovo Flex 5i chromebook/ Surface Laptop) to do USBC power and signal via a single cable or is it not possible (either from a notebook or a monitor point of view) ?

    • If you use the USB-C to USB-C that the monitor come with all my devices (Pixel 9 Pro, Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook, Surface Laptop) all now provide power and video via a single cable ! Duh!

  • +1

    My Amazon review FWIW.
Does this make me an influencer?

Bought for WFH portability (work on the front deck instead of the WFH office) or at client sites.

    Pros:
    Light weight
    Seems well made
    Comes with protective case
    Has built in stand
Ports and controls recessed and not on the side of the screen
Comes with all the cables required
Can run off standard USB A port for power (even though it says it needs 5V/3A)
Speakers aren't bad (they're not good either :p)
    Nice matte display
    Colours and brightness good

    Cons:
Controls feel a bit cheap and janky
Cables can be a bit hard to insert and remove
Can't seem to get a notebook to connect via USB-C via a single cable for power and display signal
Big white standout branding (will fix with a Sharpie :P )
