SUP Pump Recommendations

Hi all,

Santa thought he’d bought SUPs with a pump but sadly was wrong! I tried my old 18v Ozito that I use for balls and kids bike tires but after some reading realise that was never going to work.

I’d prefer a battery operated one but they seem really expensive, the Ozito one’s at Bunnings seem reasonable at under a 100 but no idea if I’m barking up the wrong tree!

Any suggestions welcome!

I feel like I'm being set up for a joke here, but….

    What's "SUP"?

This one has two hoses, one for large inflatables.

    • Unfortunately I’m not in that eco system so I’d rather stay in Ozito or Makita (although the Makita is way to expensive) or have something with a built in battery

I didn't have any luck with the Ryobi one & returned it , this one works well:

    • That’s a good price compared to other places! Thank you, I’ll add that to the short list!

Might be worth trying the though volume inflator if you're already in the Ozito ecosystem.

this won't work, he'll need high pressure not high volume. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-high-pressure-air-…

        Ahh interesting.

I tried my old 18v Ozito that I use for balls and kids bike tires but after some reading realise that was never going to work.

That's likely what they have. Maybe it's a question of buying an adaptor such as this one

yes, you'll need something like that. mine came with that attachment.

          which board did you get?

        • It’s just not right. I jimmied up an adapter with some irrigation supplies and it was slowly pumping it up. But after 20 minutes it hadn’t even got to its proper shape and the pump was very very hot

        • I’ll definitely get one of those adapters to try with some of the other Ozito suggestions! Thank you!

      • I saw that but was unsure, I guess I could try it and return it if it doesn’t work

      • Sup only need half of the pressure comp to car tyre and a quarter of mountain bike tyre so no, they're not high pressure at all.

I use one of these to pump car tires up and inflate those massive pool toys.

    • I reckon this or the second Ozito suggestion might be worth a shot as I get car tire pump as well. My 18 volt one struggles with car tires but is awesome for balls and kids bikes

I have an inflatable boat with a SUP type floor. It needs 2 stages to pump up. First stage high volume and low pressure, then higher pressure to get it to shape.
I have one of the expensive pumps for that, but many folk just use a blower for the bulk part, then the hand pump for the final bit. This would mean just buying a Makita skin and using the pump that came with the SUP or (because these are generally cr@p), a cheap high pressure pump.

    • Ahhhh I see! Far more to it than I thought!

    • Hence the speciality pumps like mentioned above

  • I’ve got the ozito one that runs on battery or mains power. I’ve got 2 x 2.0amh batteries and it struggles to pump up a ride on tyre on battery, I always wind up using it on mains power. Batteries may have enough power for toys etc but would not recommend it for tyres.

  • So the winner was this combo

I went with the Ozito as I have a few 4 amp batteries in their range and if it didn’t work I could easily take it back. Also gives me a good tyre inflator as well.

It takes 15 mins per junior SUP which is pretty good. Just set the PSI turn it to high pressure and forget about it for 15

Sounds like a lot of money for little gain, most manual pumps I used took literally less than 5 mins to fully inflated the thing.

      • Agreed. If you get a dual action pump it will inflate with the up and down stroke.

    • Try the high volume side initially, then flip it to high pressure once they take shape.

      • Ahhh, ok i’ll try that this weekend
