  • Probably the lowest. But going to wait for a sub $250 deal. The SC went for $198, a hard case can't cost $100.

    • +2

Hey, can you link me to the deal you're talking about? Clicking on the product here on ozb and looking at past deals looks like this is the best one?

Nvm it was filed under "SC" https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/bose-quietcomfort-sc

    • +1

Sub $200 for the QC Ultra ;)

    • $180

    • Case is "worth" about $50….

      • You can buy the Bose case for $39 from Amazon.

  • +1

Is this a new model ?

    • +10

Yup. Got them for my partner and compared them to my QC35 II. Mostly the same other than this model having USB C and much more bass. Makes my QC35 II seem flat in comparison but its all personal preference.

      • +2

I will then hold my QC35 II still.

      • +4

If you replace the earcups with Dekoni ones the bass and overall sound quality improves dramatically, not to mention the comfort and durability.

        • I did not know this was a thing. Which ones did you go with? Leather?

          • @Jacked: The leather ones are the only ones I have heard. My sons original ear cups split and we replaced with these. But if you read the reviews you can get an idea of which one is best for you.

  • +1

White Smoke colour also same price

  • As I understand it these have an app where they can be EQ'ed. Do the EQ settings get applied when listening wired?

    • +3

No. Only when the headphones are in bluetooth mode.

  • How do these compared to Sony XM4?

    • +1

I have the Bose and partner has the Sony. Personally I think the Bose is more comfortable. I can comfortably wear mine for long periods of time whereas my partner has to take breaks in between wearing the Sonys.

It'll come down to preference in terms of sound quality and ANC. IMO most average consumers won't notice too much of a difference. Either way I think both are solid options and I don't think you can go wrong with either.

      • Hey I saw you ask about ringers western boots in a separate deal, now closed, and wanted to message you with my experience (having changed over from my decade old RMWs two weeks ago).

I can't start new conversations with you so please message me if you'd like my perspective (in short, they're great and half price at the moment).

        • Cheers mate, just sent a message.

    • +2

I own the QC45 and have tried this in the store, impressions are the Sony sounds better but the Bose feels more comfortable (due to ear cup padding material and less clamping force).

On a flight (esp. long haul) which is my main use case I prioritise comfort over absolute sound quality so prefer the Bose.

      • +1

        i concur

      • +1

agreed - On a recent 10 hour flight I wore the Bose the whole time and hardly knew I was wearing them - they are generally regarded as the most comfortable and that makes a BIG difference on a long flight

    • I have both Sony Beats them out in the noise cancelling department marginally, But I find these more comfortable.

  • +1

These are the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried with my big head. However, I've had to return 2 pairs because the audio would briefly cut out every few minutes.

    • Did you have them connected to more than one device? I found the same thing happened, but realised it only happened if it was connected to my iPad and phone at the same time.

      • Yes, this was anytime two devices were connected at the same time. Like phone+switch, or phone+laptop.

      • It was fine for me when I disabled the multi device feature.

        • I keep it on. The only time I use with 2 devices is on a plane, and just use the app to switch between devices.

  • As this model is 884367-0100 and the sale during christmas from Costco, Myer & JB Hifi was 884367-0900 (SC), I wonder what the difference is aside from the box.

Myer's price difference between both is $50 with 0100 as the higher price:

      Soft case vs hard

      • Aaahhh.. that's what the SC stands for but for $50? nahhh..

        • the exact case is $16-20ish from aliexpress
or slightly different shape, still hard case, fit perfectly $8-10ish from aliexpress

        • +2

I paid $178 around Xmas for SC.

          This is not a deal.

          • +3

@mg_k: well its past… you can keep waiting, but as i said, its all depend on if you need now or not.
person A paid $180 for SC then use it 1 day then stay on drawer (as he/she has many others cans).
person B paid $270, use it for 25 days travels with flight etc etc.
i say person B is the winner here

  • This or the XM5s?

  • the only bad is they dont have auto pause sensor
its almost like a rip off, selling for $300-400 without the sensor

  • QC Ultra for sub $200 or bust.

    • +3

      That will never happen again

      • agree. i think around 250 is fine if you really need it now for example for travel or just commute on the train.

        • Honestly, I got the Ultra's in that deal and they are good but not hugely improved over my old Sony WH1000XM3

          • @Poimandres: The anc would be miles better

          • @Poimandres: I experienced the same upgrade, and disagree. Maybe not huge, but a decent upgrade.

I find the Bose audio quality a little more dynamic, better bass and I have not had to tweak the EQ settings out of the box, unlike my old XM3s.

However, the aware mode on the Bose is waaaaay better than the XM3s. It almost sounds like I'm not wearing any headphones, whereas the XM3 has noticeable distortion and hearing your own voice sounded a little weird. You can talk on the phone or sing along to music way more effectively with the Bose.

The ANC on both is similar. The Bose multi connection Bluetooth thingy is also a big step up over XM3.

The only real area the XM3 wins is that it is marginally more comfortable and soft. That being said the Bose has more space around the ears so my ears don't touch the inside of the ear cup like on the XM3, although this never bothered me.

            • +1

@Taiguile: SONY headphones I tried had shallow earcups (I forget - 10-15mm?) which pressed on my big ears and became EXCRUCIATING after a few hours

Bose has a deeply angled earcup which doesn't touch my big ears and are comfortable for a 10-hour flight.

  • Does anybody have a good deal for Bose QC 2 earbuds no refurbished?

    • Bose Australia website has it reduced to $289 but it has been out of stock all of January. Pair it with Amex spend over $200 get back $40 which expires on Jan 24. I ended up going with Bose QCUltra earbuds yesterday.

  • I got one for $169 during JB HiFi clusterfork. SC naturally. same thing. I never use the cases.. PX7 came with a hard case. don't even know where it is lol

    • I paid $164.00 on 29/05/24 for Bose QC SC at JBHiFi's half-price special

so for me the similar QC45 SC ? for $300 - nearly twice that price - is not a deal.

I'd wait for a real deal to show up.

  • Are these worth upgrading from the QC35?

    • +1

I'm still on my QC35's, the general consensus seems to be that the most life changing improvement is that they use USB-C.

      • I'd heard call quality is much better on the QC35s

        • +1

I've never used it for calls, but I've read that later models of QC had an external/plugin mic and the quality wasn't as good.

I can't talk about the call quality, mine are for on the plane, they've done over a million miles in the air and the only issues have been a couple of replacement earpads that wore out - and the Bose genuine ones are a reasonable price.

          • +1

@quick-dry: 'replacement earpads that wore out'

about $9.40 on eBay delivered from China - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225750198390 (I don't want Temu)

I paid about $8 years ago and was nicely surprised to receive two pairs - which have lasted me years. They've been fine for me. Probably lasted longer than the original - I haven't noticed any problems with audio quality variation with earpad type …

            • @Hangryuman: thanks for an actual review, I've seen those but will give them a go next time.

I only just replaced mine (had a jbhifi $10 discount code, money left on a giftcard to get rid of, and could pick-up immediately rather than waiting) but glad to know the cheaper alternatives are decent.

Seamlessly stay connected to all your favourite devices using the multi-point toggle feature, which allows you to switch devices without disconnecting and reconnecting each time
It never works for me. It can not automatically switch from MacBook to Android phone. I always have to switch manually.

    • +1

maybe the problem is the macbook (locked ecosystem thanks to SteveJ)
i can do the above feature with windows laptop and samsung phone

      • same. windows laptop and Samsung phone switch just fine

  • If someone can help me understand the different models of ANC Bose wireless headphones.
There is the QC, QC Ultra and QC SC

How do they differ and which model is the deal for ? I guess the QC ?

  • I had a QC35 II which has now been taken over by my kid
So, in the market for another Bose
Might bite the bullet on this one tomorrow

Looking to get a white one this time.
Any pros on choosing the white colour over black ?
Does it get dirty easily ?

  • was just about to order but price changed to 399 when in checkout :(

  • -1

Don’t take the bait if its over 200, this new qc things are much lower quality compare to older 35 45, and it still have issue with its mic in public surroundings, and it also have issues processing popping noises like when you pan frying, it enhance the noise instead.
Also multi connect just don’t work with any Mac iOS.

    • Did you have the mac connection issues with 35/45? I've got the 35s and was looking to upgrade, they give me 0 issues on apple devices but if the new ones are worse that could be an issue.

    • +2

'this new qc things are much lower quality compare to older 35 45'

I've had Bose QC15 (wired - now ugh), have given away to friends my older still-good 35 and 35ii, and now have 45 and SC and love them - and haven't noticed any particular problems - care to share a link to any lab testing demonstrating this 'much lower quality' I'm not aware of ?

      • maybe I'm biased, but that’s just how I feel. there hasn’t been a teardown of this module yet, but with bluetooth 5.1, it seems like it should’ve gotten a slight chip upgrade over the 45. overall, though, it still feels like it’s underperforming across the board.
