  • Can I buy it and activate it here before 1/2 ? Going on 3/2.

    • Unfortunately not, these year end eSIMs require the activation to be done from within the supported country before the 1/2, while you can install in Aus, activation will only take place once a data connection is established.

      • Ok cheers.

Damn - wish I read this first. Just blew my dough on 2 x sims as it wasn't clear on the product page you had to be in the actual travel country to activate - it just says "MUST be activated before the 01/02/2025 @ 3am AEDT. Simply scan the QR code to download and use the eSIM, no other activation or registration steps required, your validity period will begin upon scanning the eSIM. Please start using the eSIM before 01/02/2025 @ 3am AEDT". And yes - I should have read the post properly first. Oh well.

Send me your order numbers and I can refund these for you if you'd like!

        • +1

MUST be activated before the 01/02/2025
whattt why so short dated? any fish thing going on here?

          • @McMaferMur: We have had this sale since December, but the OZB mods banned us as a few friends upvoted the deal.

            • @EscapeSIM: Your store ban ended 2 weeks ago FYI. It was only a 14 day ban.

              • @hamza23: I had a newborn in that time, cheers

      • I bought couple of eSIMs (Japan KDDI 10GB and 3 ASEAN countries ones) from the November 2024 deals, does it have the same clauses as this, needs to be activated from within the supported country by 1/2? It certainly wasn't clear in the product descriptions as I bought it. My plan was to activate it prior to flying in Feb and thinking I would've made the 30 days expiry date if I do so..

edit: just to clarify, bought it right at the end of November, if I have to activate within 90 days after purchase date, I might be able to make it..

        • Hey mate, everything else apart from the end of year specials are 90 days from purchase date, and yes activation is generally always from within a supported country, if you're not going to make it by then, shoot me a PM with your order numbers and I'll send you fresh ones.

  • I've done a lot of eSIM research recently for an upcoming trip to Europe I have in May (hope you'll have a sale for then!) and even with regular pricing, they seem pretty good! Especially from an Australian retailer, so paying in AUD is a huge plus.

Mind, I haven't actually used them yet so can't exactly vouch for performance and support but based on pricing I'm pretty satisfied with the offering.

    • Thanks! Feel free to shoot us a PM when you're looking at buying and I'll sort you out :)

  • Recently used in Macau & Mainland China - worked fine.

    • Cheers for the support!

Like to know more about your experience in China, can you only use this for browsing internet and running approved apps, or can you also make phone calls and SMS as well?

Who's the idiot downvoting me for asking Aider a genuine question?

        • +1

Internet only. Since it's a HK sim it works with most apps / websites (google youtube reddit all worked for me) - but would still recommend getting a vpn if possible.

          • -1

@Aider: Thank you Aider, that's the info I am seeking.

    • I assume these are Hong Kong based and will bypass firewall?

Going to over for CNY but need reliable firewall bypass for work.

      • Yes these are Hong Kong based and bypass the firewall for everything but Tiktok and chatgpt are still blocked.

        • Cheers, grabbed 2.

  • Hi OP
Do you have any sims for Malaysia on sale?
    Cheers

    • Hey there, not at the moment but I'd expect to see a sale posted here next month.

The cheapest offering at the moment would be one of these packages - 10GB for $13.49

Check out Yoodo. We used it last year in March and it worked fine and was more convenient than the Hotlink/Digi sim cards we used in prior years. If your phone supports esim, it's way easier than trying to find a 7-11/Maxis store to get a physical sim

      • Unfortunately Yoodo has been bought out by CelcomDigi and discontinued since Aug 2024 :(
They have posted a notice on their site: https://www.yoodo.com.my/

  • Hi mate,

Going to Japan on Sunday for two weeks. Could I buy the year-end eSIM and install it here before I go and activate it there?

    • Hey there, so these specials will start the validity period upon installation of the eSIM (even if it's not activated yet) - usually I'd say you could no worries, but if losing the flight hours off the package doesn't phase you, you can still definitely do it!

  • Damn, literally just bought a Japan eSim elsewhere an hour ago. 🙃

    • Spewing!

  • how is the signal strength of these eSim in Japan?

    • These packages roam with KDDI in Japan, we haven't had any complaints about signal strength as I'd say they're in the top 3 telcos of Japan

      • thanks mate

  • +1

If you are travelling to Japan say, mid Feb to late Feb 2025, you need to activate before 01-Feb-2025??
Activate here in Australia or Japan tarmac??
    I’m kinda confused here.

    • Hey, so they need to be activated from within a supported country before the 1st of February

On Japan tarmac, next time I'll make it clearer!

      Cheers

      • Very competitive pricing though. 20GB to use within 30 days for the price of $17.49 AUD is nice deal.
Some other eSIM resellers charge a foreign currency surcharge on top. This one supposedly AUS based reseller so no fx surcharge.
Using kddi network is decent as well.

  • Heading to NZ on Friday. Any deals for there?

  • When does this promotion end?

    • We will cease selling the year end packages on the 31st of January, but the eSIM needs to be activated in a supported country before 01/02/2025 @ 3am AEDT

      • Thank you for the reply :)

  • What's the best one in terms of coverage and valid for Japan for 20gb.

    • Hey, KDDI provides pretty good coverage through most of Japan, I'd definitely recommend this if you're going to be there before the end of February, if not we do have other KDDI roaming packages that are still very competitively priced.

      https://escapesim.com.au/esim/country/japan-esim/japan-year-…

      https://escapesim.com.au/esim/country/japan-esim/japan-kddi-…

We also stock a locally provided IIJ eSIM which is also really good, https://escapesim.com.au/esim/country/japan-esim/japan-speci…

      • @EscapeSIM is IIJ equal to Docomo OR Softbank phone provider?
Interested with a Japan eSIM for April and need to have a good internet to compete with another 1000 people queue for Disney Sea rides :p

        Thanks

        • Hey mate,
IIJ is up there but it's not at the same level as NTT, SoftBank or KDDI.

It's not exactly amazing coverage wise in rural areas but metro areas it's actually a really solid connection.

          • @EscapeSIM: Thanks for your reply! as I'll be around city area (For Tokyo it will be Disney Sea and Disneyland), I suspect best to get Docomo OR Softbank OR KDDI provider?
            Thanks

  • Currently using the $8.99/10gb in Japan.

Tried activating before I flew to Japan, but it wouldn’t activate - expiry date in the app reflects 15 days from when I landed in Japan (ie first connection in Japan).

IP address is in HK for those who care - when I was checking on esimsb, some providers with similar products (Japan esim, HK IP, must be activated by 31/1) specifically said tiktok wouldn’t work on theirs (unsure if this is the same situation with EscapeSIM - I’m not a tiktok user, but thought it would be worthwhile pointing out)

Speeds are decent, and getting 5G on and off.

For this price, no brainer imo

    • Glad you're having a good experience on it, also thanks for the clarification on the activation date, we were told that it would start when the QR was scanned in, maybe some wires were crossed here, but if your expiry is showing from when it had its first data connection, then I'd go off that and I'll change the wording on the product details.

And yes Tiktok and chatgpt are blocked as with all HK provided eSIMs, I will add another section for products to show this.

      Thanks!

  • Are websites like google and facebook blocked on the China esim?

    • Hey Andrew sorry for the late reply, the only things blocked in Hong Kong (where the internet out is from) are chatgpt and Tiktok, google and Facebook are both allowed

  • What's the process to top-up data when these run out? Where can I find the rates of data top-up?

    • Hi there, unfortunately we can't do any top ups with this vendor, another eSIM will need to be purchased to replace it once you run out of data

  • Need something for Japan for April

  • How is the coverage in Hakuba?
    Thanks

    • Hey mate, we have lots of customers through the winter seasons in Hakuba and they've reported decent speeds and good coverage on the KDDI network

  • Thanks for sharing, shame it needs to be activated by 01/02/2025

Are there anymore upcoming deals next month/or soon? I'll be in Japan all of March :)

    • Honestly nothing this cheap unfortunately, but shoot us a PM, we will sort you out

      • PM sent

  • HI, anything on sale for Malaysia and Singapore? Need it by tomorrow.

  • probably a dumb question but I've never used an esim before and am not sure about the wording regarding the 30 day validity period.

If I buy it now, will i be covered for the 28 days im overseas, from 23/1 - 24/2, or will it expire before I'm back.

I'm assuming activation of the esim can be delayed, or does it happen when you purchase?

    thanks

    • +1

Hey, not a dumb question at all!

So the validity period (30 days) starts when you establish a network connection in a supported country, if you buy this now, then activate it on the 23/1 that should cover you till the 21/2 as it's exactly 30 days (down to the second when you activate it), you might need to grab a short stay package to tie you over till the 24th, or if you can get away with just wifi that works too.

      • thanks for the help

  • Hi, I am facing an issue trying to activate the esim just bought. The message showing "Unable to Activate eSIM" I have send email to your helpdesk 20 minutes ago. Ticket#391750. Appreciate help. Thank you.

    • Hey, I've replied to your ticket!

      • Hi Tom, I have replied to your email. TQ.

  • Any further discounts with sims for Japan.

Looking at the Japan KDDI 30 GB plan. Looking to get a few e sims for friends and family. @EscapeSIM

    • Hey mate, send me a PM!

  • I noticed some of the plan does not support hotspot (e.g. this); how does the eSIM knows whether you are sharing the internet or not?

I wonder how they are able to do that… wouldn't hotspot-ing technology is done by the phone itself?

    • +1

So the eSIM profile can have a lot of control for anything passed in and out of it connection wise.

But this package actually does support it, I think you may have read this wrong (we're changing all of the descriptions to be more concise soon)

      • Ah… you're right, having the word "no daily limits and Mobile hotspot is supported" is confusing, I thought that it does NOT support hotspot….
        Thanks for clarifying!

Perhaps create a new section "Hotspot / Mobile Hotspot" and have the value of "Yes or allowed"…

        My 2 Cents

        • +1

Most definitely sounds confusing, again one of those things I don't think about until someone points it out to me thanks again!

  • @EscapeSIM just a couple of small suggestions:

    • Please fix the filter on the page, I put the filter and open one of the plans, once I closed the plan details, it reverted back to the unfiltered option
    • Similar thing to the sort option; once I sorted the page, open one of the sim details, close it, it will then go back to the un-sorted option

I just wish it retains the filter and sort options, so that I don't have to go back and forth after looking at the plan details page

    • +1

Thank you for the suggestion here mate, I wouldn't of picked up on this unless someone told me about it, I'll get this sorted! Get it? :)

      • Thanks for taking my suggestions - all the best with your business!

  • Any sim for Japan & Korea?

  • Hey OP, can the SK SIMs access ChatGPT and TikTok?

    • Hey mate, they're from a Hong Kong provider so unfortunately it's restricted but you could use a free VPN to bypass if required.
