Desktop PC: AMD AM5 9600X, 1TB M.2 SSD, 32GB DDR5 RAM, Wi-Fi 6E $999 / + RTX4060 $1399 + Delivery ($0 C&C) + Surcharge @ Evatech

POLARIS500

By request, here's a small run of AM5 prebuilts, limited stock (32pc). We have about half built and ready to go, so if you're not modifying the base spec as advertised you could pick up in matter of an hour or two (after a final round of QA inspection) or expect dispatch next business day. The rest are 'built-to-order' to allow for modifications / option changes so we don't have to tear down and rebuilt systems to accommodate. Expect a dispatch time of ~ 3-4 business days for these although we'll do our best to keep it to a minimum!

With next-gen GPU launches hitting at the end of the month to keep us busy, and the AU dollar in free-fall and prices creeping up daily… it might be a while before we get around to posting a deal of this calibre in this price range again. Grab em while their hot. Very unlikely to be restocked once sold out… at least not at the same price.

To address the competing RTX4060 deal posted yesterday that beat us to the punch… not to say it's bad value because it's not. It's just a very different beast with plenty of comprises to hit that otherwise impressive price point. So for the extra $511 what do you get? Here are the highlights

  • Latest-gen Zen5 AM5 9600X 5.4GHz CPU vs Zen3 AM4 5500 4.2GHz
  • 220w 120mm Aftermarket Tower Air vs stock OEM 65w CPU Cooler
  • Double the NVMe Storage & Faster (1TB 5000MBs Gen4 vs 512G Gen3 3500MBs)
  • Double the RAM Capacity + DDR5 6000 vs DDR4 3200
  • Premium VRM B650 / AM5 vs budget entry level B450/AM4 motherboard
  • WiFi 6E / BT5.2 / 2.5Gb LAN / Type C vs No WiFi / No BT / 1Gb LAN / No Type-C
  • Higher end, better airflow chassis with Type-C & 3 fans & RGB controller vs no Type-C, 1x Fan, no controller.
  • Shipping from $32, fully insured vs $50 shipping + ~ $19 'insurance'

To their credit, the default power supply they offer is higher spec (650w vs 500w) but it's overkill components it's powering and won't contribute to performance, only offer a bit more headroom for upgrades albeit stuck on the older gen discontinued AM4/B450 platform anyway… The 500w model we use is ample and thoroughly tested for the 9600X + RTX4060. If that is a concern however, we have 750w and 850w Gen5 unit upgrade options that might better serve those with plans to upgrade down the line.

Questions regarding Windows licenses & installation
- Yes, our licenses are 100% genuine OEM or retail licenses purchased directly from Microsoft authorized distributors. Physical copies of these products are provided with the PC including the license key cards and installation flash drive (for retail licenses) or COA stickers (for OEM licenses). Any system builder that doesn't provide these could be charging you full price for a grey market key of significantly less value and questionable origin. Always demand the physical copies!
- Yes, if you purchase Windows from us we will have it pre-installed, setup, updated and with all the required drivers pre-installed ready to go out of the box.
- No we cannot pre-install Windows for anyone who doesn't purchase a genuine license. We'd love to offer this as a service for those who already have a genuine license but selling a PC pre-loaded with Windows without a license purchase is strictly forbidden by Microsoft.
- Yes, if you have a genuine retail (not OEM or volume) license you can provide to us and that we can validate as genuine, we can activate it for you and provide the PC with Windows pre-installed. Contact us after placing your order with your order number and license details to arrange. OEM or volume keys cannot be accepted as they are non transferable to new systems.

This or base M4 Mac Mini?

    • +8

Do you prefer Mac or Windows?

      • More like Mac or non-Mac, unless you’re buying an NVIDIA card, and then Linux is ruled out.

  • Would there be any compatibility issues if I were to plug my current 1080ti into the model without the 4060?

    • +5

The 1080 Ti can pull a lot of power, especially the higher end models. You'd need to upgrade the power supply to 750W but otherwise it shouldn't be an issue.

    • -3

Don’t see why it wouldn’t work. 550w should be fine for a 1080ti, if evatech put a high quality PSU in.

      • +2

Nah, my old 1080ti would hit around 300W. My current GPU (7900xtx) hits around 400W so I guess that would be fine with a 650W PSU?

      • +7

1080ti with a 500w power supply? yeah nah.
750w minimum. it has nothing to do with "quality power supply". The simple fact is peak draw from a 1080ti would needlessly overwork a 500w power supply.

      • +6

Our units are very good quality, but they are 500w in the base spec, not 550w.

Nvidia's recommendation for that card was 600w + for the reference model and some aftermarket models were much more aggressive than the FE for power draw limits and boost clocks.

      • not how PSUs work. high quality doesn't mean extra watts LOL

  • I'm going to sound silly, but I'm still running a 1060, with a 1080p screen. Besides playing something with ray tracing like Cyberpunk. Is this a good enough upgrade for someone who doesn't plan on buying another PC in another 7+ years? lol

    • +4

Considering the vram issues we’re already having with the 4060 at 1080p, i would say no. My advice? Spend money on a cheaper deal, upgrade in 3-4 years. The market is way too shit now, and pascal was way too ahead of its time.

      • What vram issues? I haven't really kept up with all the little micro news about the 40 series.

        • +1

Essentially games are already needing 10GB or higher at 1080P so buying a new system with less is limiting… I'd lean towards doing a BYO GPU on this deal pending what the RX9070 comes out like.

      • Spend money on a cheaper deal, upgrade in 3-4 years

They said that 3-4 years old. Crypto really fire trucked the GPU market for budget gamers…

    • I don't consider that silly, I am running a 2060 but the rest of my machine is at least 12y old (i7 3870, believe it or not), and i still play the latest COD. Sure the performance is god awful, but try not to get swept up in (or frustrated by) the culture of buying the latest hardware every cycle or two, I think it's a bit excessive (for most use cases). At some point it becomes a hardware flex, rather than needing the additional horsepower lol.

This seems like a decent PC for the price, but you'd need to consider if that 7y timespan will involve upgrades, consider if this pc can be upgraded with minimal overhaul

      • Yeah this is kind of where I'm at. I'm at a point where I have the money to buy this PC - but simultaneously I don't know if it's truly worth it. The "latest" game I would try to play would be Witcher 3 simply because I also don't want to throw down money for a 1440p screen.

I've had my rig pretty much since the 1060 came out, so trying to find the best future-proofable setup.

    • I think you could easily get 5 years out of it at that resolution.

  • I agree with the above. I think you could easily get 3-5 years out of this system. Add another few if you're willing to upgrade the cpu down the track.

  • Will this be enough for Cities Skylines 2? How about flight simulator?

    • +1

Yes, but your mileage will vary based on resolution and graphics settings. As long as you don't want to just crank everything up to max and play at 4K, you'll be able to find a pretty good sweet spot in terms of visuals and performance with a bit of tinkering for basically any game on the market today or coming in the near future.

      • Fantastic. I play at 1200p anyway

  • Don't know much about gaming PCs. Would upgrading to the 4070 super be recommended for 4k gaming? This still a reasonable deal?

upgraded GPU : MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Super Ventus 2X 12G OC
upgraded Power Supply : MSI MAG 750GL Gold PCI-E 5 750W ATX Power Supply

$2,293.00 (inc. Windows 11 Home OEM and after $500 discount)

    • At 4K yes, at that resolution you'll definitely see a big jump in performance between the 4060 and 4070 Super in almost all games that. The 4060 will definitely struggle in the more demanding games at those higher resolutions. It's more of a 1080p / 1440p card unless you mainly play older less demanding games and don't mind scaling back the graphics settings quiet a bit.

      • I was also considering upgrading to the 4070 but unsure if it would be overkill for me. I have a 2k monitor (no plans to upgrade to 4k). The games I want to play are mostly coop games like Hell divers 2, Diablo 4). Would the 4060 be able to comfortably run these on a high setting on a 2k monitor?

And if I decide to upgrade the GPU later so say a higher 40 series or 50 when they're out, would the motherboard be able to support if I upgrade the power supply?

        • +1

Would the 4060 be able to comfortably run these on a high setting on a 2k monitor?

You can probably expect 60-ish fps for HD2 on high settings raster, if you're wanting a high Hz experience with ultra graphics in the latest games the 4060 ain't your card

      • Thanks - purchased!

    • A 4070 super will struggle to get decent FPS at 4K resolution. If you want to play at 4K you're going to want something like the 4080 Super.

  • if i change the cpu fan and power supply will i still have the warranty? how does the warranty work for the desktop?

    • For warranty on a the system as a whole, as long as you can restore it to the original state it was provided in, undamaged.. it's covered. As for warranty on a per component basis, you can change whatever you like. As long as the component is undamaged and under manufacturers warranty, you're covered.

The tricky part is if you do encounter any issues with a PC that has a mix of parts you supply yourself along side ours, it's really on you to troubleshoot the problem and isolate the fault, or remove the components you installed and re-install the original ones to see if the fault persists before applying for a warranty return.

If you're comfortable with building / troubleshooting PC hardware, it's a totally viable option to chop and change as you see fit and simply lean on the per component warranty for each component purchased from us. If you're less confident and just want a warranty that covers the system as a whole, then we'd recommend against making any major alterations to the system as provided out of the box, or if you're local having us do it for you with components purchased directly through us.

      • Great, can u tell me how long will the delivery take? Cause i am planning to travel oversea for the next month. And how long is the
        manufacturing warranty for each component?

        • Manufacturers warranty
CPU, GPU, MB = 3 Years
PSU, SSD, RAM = 5 Years
Case, Fans, Air Cooler = 12 months.
Liquid Cooler (optional upgrade) = 3 Years

For the case, fans and air cooler, it's quiet rare they fail but we usually replace free of charge during the first 3 years if they do anyway when we're dealing with a pre-built.

Delivery depends on your location. Most metro areas are 2-3 business days by Fedex from Melbourne. Dispatch will also depend on the time you order (if we have any remaining pre-assembled units for immediate dispatch) or if you make modifications to the base spec and we need to build it to order. I'd say to be safe allow 3-4 business days. All combined, you're probably looking at 5-7 business days.

  • +3

unrelated to this deal - Bought a 4070 Ti Super custom PC build from these guys in November - absolute killer. If you're in Melbourne and can CC these guys are clear winners!

    • ❤️

      • After sales service too has been top notch :)

  • no black cases T_T

    • I’m still hanging out for beige

  • any pickup only special deals for locals coming soon? :)

    • Sorry, nothing currently in the works that I'm aware of.

  • How many left OP?

    • Not many…. you guys are hammering us. Getting the full ozbargain front page effect with this one.

  • Previously bought a 7800x3d/4080S from Evatech last year. I appreciate the higher quality components they offer. If you are based in VIC highly recommend

    • ❤️

  • price increases due to Aussie pesos have been nuts
9800x3d went from $799 at launch to $899 - might be to do with demand as well
interesting to see how bad it gets when new GPUs come out - anyone got any indication how much pesos this going to cost us

  • 😢 never an option to take out the gpu

    • Looks like there is to me

  • I bought an MSI themed PC from Evatech in November which was on Ozbargains and I cant recommend these guys more highly enough. They are fantastic with after sales support. Looking to get one of these for my son now.

  • Is this suitable for 1440p gaming? (mainly sim racing) Also, how quiet is the case?

    • +2

Yes, 1440p will run great in most games with the appropriate in game-graphics settings. Depending on your target frame rates you might need to dial the settings back a bit in the more demanding games.

The case itself is not particularly loud nor is is it particularly quiet. The main contributor to noise levels will be the fans and the fans will be louder when the system is hotter (as they will have a variable RPM that scales with temperatures). You can tinker with fan curve RPMs to try an optimize performance and noise levels yourself but we do have a profile we set out of the box that we consider fairly optimized already, albeit geared towards performance. Keep the ambient room temperatures in check and the system itself shouldn't be overly noisy at all, but it's not going to be silent if that's what you're after.

  • If anyone wants a 9600x cpu unused for $350 send me a message I have a spare from a previous build that didn't get used.
