[Solved] I Received an Open Box Apple Pencil Pro from Officeworks

Hey everyone, first post here.

Today I had an experience with Officeworks that could be considered a bit dodgy. Since I'm a foreigner, I'd love to hear what you think I should do.

I did a price beat at Officeworks for two Apple Pencil Pros, and all seemed fine. I got home and opened one to test it, it was sealed like new. Everything alright.

The other pencil was for my brother as a gift, but when I went to set it down, I discovered it was an open box.

Is it easy enough to go back to the store and ask for a replacement?

Cheers!

    Hello guys, quick update.
I went to the store and talked to another person at the counter.
He made the replacement and no questions were asked.
No need to speak with the manager.
    Thanks for the replies.
    Cheers!

  • I would have a try. Up until recently all these sorts of things had tape (usually a round type) sealing the boxes and that's what I look for to reduce the chance of getting a used returned good. The sealing tape seems to be absent on some things and I'm not liking it. Recently got a new toaster and the box wasn't sealed and it has an issue. Whether that's a fault from factory or a faulty item returned and resold ,who knows. But I think sealing boxes at least gives a customer some faith some other punter hasn't discovered fault, returned it, and the retialer had a go and reselling it.Good luck.Just tell them your factual account and hopefully they get the message.

Did the same to me when I bought a Google Pixel for the wife… got home, took the packing slip off it and all the carton seals had been opened and there was a tag on the box that said “customer return: not what they wanted” and the phone was covered in fingerprint prints and the screen cover was off and laying in the bottom of the box.

I called them and told them. They apologised and told me to bring it back in, which I did and they changed it on the spot for a brand new one that had the security tabs untouched.

      Finger prints make scents. Ewwwwww

It was more the taste of them that really upset me.

Take it back. Ask to speak to the manager if you have no success with the person at the counter.
