K2 is the most budget economic grinder out of the others and is the best budget manual coffee grinder especially at this price on the market.

K2 is more suited for cheap supermarket coffee, so if you're getting better coffee then get K4 or K6 to get you the better flavours + easier to use with the external adjustment system.

But the K2 is still a solid, real quality piece of engineering and is a well rated and reviewed grinder especially for traditional espresso or shorter pulls.

I recommend the flagship K6 over the K2 which is still on sale now @ $118.40.

But for a cheaper budget and supermarket coffee, get this.

K2 is more suited for cheap supermarket coffee

lol. That’s not how it works.
The goal coffee snobs are seeking is precise control and replication. If you are happy with the flavours of premium priced coffee, but accept very minor variation, any grinder will do. If you are happy with the flavour of cheaper coffee, but demand consistency, then a premium grinder is necessary.

    • I think the snobs would want a good grinder to get the best results possible, especially if spending a lot more on 'good beans'. You still need control as the beans get older. Getting fresh ones is the key, I'm getting great results with the Aldi medium roast and an old sunbeam cafe series grinder, always best with new beans and not worth keeping them once they are too old ($15/kg you can afford to go through them). Would still like a better grinder but not paying a fortune - once you start looking into them the price sky rockets pretty quickly.

Either way I think the K6 is the one you'd want for espresso and coffee.

      • I bought the K4 specifically for espresso over the K6, which is meant to be better for pour over and other non-espresso brewing methods, at least according to online advice.

        • So many different models.. yeah get whichever one is recommended dunno

Also it would really depends on the machine

This thing, on the wrong setting, will grind it too fine for a Breville barista pro for example, but fine enough for a $5000 machine with more pressure. I've taken this travelling and made amazing coffee adjusting it to the machine, they are awesome value if you're ok with the arm workout

Ok, so I recently got into the manual coffee grinding thing and got the K2 last year. While it's well built and grinds well, the adjustment mechanism is just a pain to use.

I ended up buying a knock off manual grinder from Aliexpress with an adjustment ring on the outside, which has been so much better. This thing is built like a tank and the grind quality is as good as the kingrinder

  • Is it worth it to buy beans, grinder etc over instant coffee?

I see a lot of folks buying coffee beans and expensive machines.

If you're happy with the taste of instant coffee, no. If you're not, yes.

    • Instant.. sounds like it's fine if your asking the question.
You could also google instant vs X..

    • Why not taste it yourself, do you prefer instant coffee or coffee you get at a cafe?
