I booked for 5 days in April without any issues.
Plenty of availability during the july school holidays in Cairns. Some cars are cheaper than eastcoast car rentals but check both.
Use 15off3days for eastcoast to make it closer to this deal.
Not recommended, bad customer service and charge exess amount on the back. Go with reputable companies instead

Hertz, Avis, Sixt are my go-to's. Can book via 3rd party sites, as long as the car is supplied by one of the big names.
Always:
- Refuel yourself
- Take photos or a video of the car on collection and ensure you check the tyres and windscreen for damage. Take photos or video on drop off too. Dont skip this step.
- Consider tolls carefully - there is normally a buy yourself in advance or they process them for you option.
- Have the credit card (not debit card) you used for the booking with you on collection. Also a drivers license in the same name.

I don’t have a credit card, only a debit card. Why would/should I give CC instead if I booked with debit?
@JustBrowsing456: Most brands accept debit card with Visa/Mastercard symbol (varies for overseas locations) however:
-They take a pre-authorisarion on your card of more than the rental amount (amount varies by company) which likely won't release until a week or two after you return
- If you cause any damage to the car, or they think you did (even if you prove later with your photos/video that you didn't), they'll take an even bigger hold for more than the expected repair cost - often to the value of the Excess, even for small damages (several thousand). You could be waiting for a month or two to get this back
