    it'll be shit

“4K support” is like saying a horse is the best suited to a freeway. Actual resolution: 720p. Good for kids to use in a tent or something maybe?

    • 4K support… not!

  • +4

If you're looking for a 720p 200ANSI projector then this is certainly one of them. Low res and dim.

  • Any good portable projector screen to go with it

  • +1

    High res 720p?

  • Here for the comments (given the huge savings)

  • +2

its works ok as a casual projector. outputs 720p. my fan started playing up 3 weeks in, I now have to turn it on, wait for the OS to boot then turn it off and on again to stop the loud fan groaning noice.

    its basically the aliexpress projector

  • +2

Honestly not a terrible price considering Prime shipping, I bought the Xuanpad one just after christmas, surprisingly decent considering it was only $120, who knows how long it will last but in a dim room with a speaker via AUX it's quite a good time. For $94, expect it to be terrible and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

    • I got the xuanpad one too but higher model and it's fantastic for the price ($120 also). Looked for the highest ANSI model we could find for a cheap price

      • Contrast, noise and vignette didn't matter to you?

Years ago we had top quality electronics from Japan. Now it's a race to the bottom with crap from China, destined for landfill. Resist the temptation and refuse to buy this garbage e-waste.

    • +1

No, what we get from China is a wide range. From quite well-made products, including a lot with Western big-brand names, but made in China where manufacturing is cheap, through to rubbish. And the old maxim applies, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If something looks like a bargain, it might be, or it might just be cheap rubbish with wildly-exaggerated specs and poor design and manufacturing quality. That's what OzBargain is for, to help us all decide which it is.

I actually first came across it when someone else on ozbargain shared it. Its made and maintained by JayceOoi:

Oh, I had come across his videos — he's incredibly boring! 😄

But he's almost convincing me to get the Wanbo New T2 Max.

          • +1

@wisdomtooth: Liking this too for value and also the Happrun H1.

            • @migoreng: Yeah, that's this guy's favourite. He's quite thorough.

What I don't like about it, that that guy doesn't mention, is that the Happrun's keystone correction is only manual and vertical, so it has to be positioned dead center of the screen.

            • @migoreng: I'm now between:

              • @wisdomtooth: Exactly in the same boat as you. Amazon ones are tempting me because I'm impatient

Probably will order this and hoping its similar to the wanbo - https://amzn.asia/d/gnlfEqh

                • @migoreng: Which one? The C-23000L for $250?

Are you impatient to wait for AliEx delivery, or for prices to hit a low?

The HY320 I linked above is probably a dud; the 1080 one from Magcubic is A$106 (with tax) on their AliEx store.

I'm now between the Happrun H1 and the Wanbo New T2 Max. The Happrun seems to take a minimal electronics approach: no wifi, no autofocus, no digital keystone… Maybe that means they focused on the optics instead? As I'm looking to use it with a Fire TV stick I already have, that's not a problem for me. Good for gamers — not my case — with no electronics in between to lag it behind.

                  • +1

@wisdomtooth: Yeh the 23000L, have ordered and should get it tomorrow. Im impatient with aliexpress delivery haha.

                    • @migoreng: Great! So you can let me know how you find it 😁

                      • +1

@wisdomtooth: Yep lets hope it isnt a hunk of shit lol.

                        • @migoreng: I couldn't find any serious review of it, did you? From what I've seen, the Amazon ranking is not well informed. People are happy with what they got, perhaps bc budget projectors have substantially improved and come down in price, but they're not comparing across different products. I found that guy you suggested and this guy to be the most rigorous (even more the latter than the former). There's also this guy, Israeli I think, who talks a lot and says very little.

  • +1

    "8000 Lumens" lmao

    • It'll blow your cock off

    • Yeah, that's the LED lumens, not the lumens on the screen. The lumens on the screen are the ANSI lumens.

  • +1

Try https://www.amazon.com.au/HaiZR-Portable-Projector-Support-A… for real 1080p and brighter at pretty much the same price. There are multiple examples of these around, white labelled with slightly different specs.

    • Avg review rating 3.7?

  • +1

    Fake lumens for sure.

How's this? 1080p though but seems to be cheaper now than when it was last posted.

Any suggestions with a link for good value ~$500 to 1000

    • Not spending $919 on a projector, thanks.

      I'm considering paying $159, not $919.

      • You aren't going to get a proper projector for much under a grand, unless you buy used.

Epson have a 1080p refurb for $599 right now - https://www.epson.com.au/shoponline/shop/BrowseProducts.asp?… - but buy it quickly, they usually only have one of each.

        • This is OzBargain, not OzProper. Wrong community.

Plenty of 1080p LCD projectors in the market for much less than that Epson. It's just overpriced brand name stuff. There are brand new DLP laser projectors for not much more than that!

  • I never understand these. Yes it cheap but its like watching your $102 slowly burning.

This and that 2nd hand HDD post last week.

  • +1

Not a good deal, I got the hy320 which is much better for $65 on AliExpress. You can find the hy300 for ~$40 on Chinese sites.

The problem with these is if they get to hot it burns in spots on the display, as reported by numerous users.

  • 720P Full HD Native
    1080P & 4K support

Wow, not even 1080p native? And 720p is not FULL HD.
