Honestly it's machines like these that screw consumers over. I don't mind them charging transaction fees, but not offering a fee free way for consumers to pay should be made illegal. Why should I pay 1.4% when paying via the EFTPOS network?

This means that shops are likely to pass on this cost to their customers with regardless of what card they pay with. With more and more shops only accepting card payments, this means consumers would be slugged with paying a 1.4% surcharge and no way to make a fee free payment.
The seller can adopt to pay the charge for Zeller and most do. I never pass on my card fees to my customers.

Technically it's not legal to advertise the price without the surcharge if you do not offer a fee free method e.g. if you're selling a coffee for $5 and only accepting payment by zeller, your signature must show $5.07
@boretentsu: I think OP was saying there are generally only fees for credit card payments at small businesses, with cash/debit being fee-free.
But these machines charge a flat fee, so merchants may elect to just bump up their prices slightly across the board for everyone.

No, this is a "Attended" eftpos machine. A vending machine needs a "Unattended" device so that it supports customers without a employee initiating the transaction.
