Stainless and Glass Food Containers, What to Look for and Where to Find?

Hi,

I am in the market for some food storage and transport solutions in stainless (mostly for lunches at work) and glass (mostly for storage in fridge and pantry.

I am unsure which brands and marketplaces to look for? There seem to be some stainless and glass available on Amazon AU (not a lot) but I am unsure if nonames will be food safe enough… 304 stainless should be pretty standard but there is no way to verify that proper stainless steel was used. At the same time, bento specific brands seem to be a bit overpriced. Any good relaible and safe deals?

    When it comes to glass containers - I have tried few branded and some non branded and found all of them to do similar job.

    Some reasonable quality cheap ones are at Kmart-

    There are heaps others listed online at Kmart.

    I havent used stainless ones so cant comment.

    Try Ikea. They have some glass containers.

    Im still using Tupperware. Stuff will out last an apocalypse

      some people find it difficult to continue as the tupperware can be seen eroding plastic and they wonder where it is ending up (food or in washing).

        If Tupperware is failing (which I have only ever seen once for myself through my own exceptional misuse), then you discard or swap if it's a manufacturing fault.

        I'm using Tupperware that's decades old and it still hasn't faultered. Or, if people are so concerned, try Decor. But unless that glass and steel is locally manufactured from recycled products, I doubt it's any more environmentally less impactful.

        Tupperware/Decor etc, like all plastics, can and should be recycled when at end of life.

    Ikea 365 series comes in steel and glass, and has the added benefit that the lids are interchangeable. But having said that, I've found the plastic lids better than the other options.
