Terms & Conditions

  • In order to qualify for the $5 promotional credit (which can be used on future eligible orders), you must: (1) be one of the first 2,000 orders to purchase $200 or more in Amazon.com.au Gift Card(s) in a single order at Amazon.com.au or the Amazon app between 12:01AM (AEDT) on 9 Jan and 11:59PM (AEDT) on 31 Jan (“Qualifying Purchase”); and (2) enter the promotional code “GCJAN” in the “Gift Cards & Promotional Codes” box at check-out (“Offer”).
  • Amazon.com.au Gift Cards are subject to the Amazon.com.au Gift Card Terms and Conditions.
  • For Qualifying Purchases, a promotional credit of $5 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com.au account that was used to make the Qualifying Purchase within two (2) business days after your order is shipped (for physical gift cards) or within two (2) business days after your order is completed (for electronic gift cards). An email notification will be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to make the Qualifying Purchase within two (2) business days of the Qualifying Purchase being shipped or completed (as applicable) to confirm that the promotional code has been applied to the relevant account.
  • You must use the $5 promotional credit by 11:59PM (AEST) on 31 January 2026.
  • This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
  • Delivery fees, taxes, shipping and handling, and gift wrap charges, if applicable, do not apply when determining the minimum purchase amount.
  • If you remove Qualifying Purchases from your shopping cart, so that the combined purchase value of the remaining purchases at checkout falls below $200, this Offer will cease to apply.
  • If you cancel part of your order for Qualifying Purchases, so that the combined purchase value of the remaining purchases falls below $200, this Offer will cease to apply.
  • If you return a Qualifying Purchase, so that the combined purchase value of the purchases you retain falls below $200, Amazon reserves the right to:
  • remove any unused promotional credit you received as part of the Offer from your account without further notice; and
  • charge you (using the payment method you used for the original order and without further notice) for the promotional credit you received as part of the Offer which you have used.
  • This promotional credit can be used towards a future purchase of “eligible items” shipped and sold by Amazon AU and will be automatically applied to your next purchase of eligible item(s). “Eligible items” excludes products sold by third party sellers including Amazon US (Amazon Global Store) and Amazon UK even if fulfilled by Amazon AU, digital purchases such as e-books, products that are not in new condition such as renewed products, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, any gift cards and postage or delivery rates.
  • The promotional credit can be used across multiple purchases of eligible items until it is exhausted.
  • The promotional credit will be allocated proportionally among all eligible items in your order.
  • This Offer and the promotional credit cannot be used on existing orders.
  • Amazon AU’s standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to this Offer.
  • If you use Amazon’s 1-Click ordering method, any promotional credit will not apply to your order.
  • The promotional credit is not transferable and may not be resold, redeemed for cash or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.au.
  • If you return any item purchased using the promotional credit, Amazon AU will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional credit) and the promotional credit will be invalidated and cannot be refunded or re-used.
  • If you violate any of these terms, this Offer will be invalid.
  • Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply.

    • +3

It's almost like the answer is in your question……

  • +5

What is this? A promo for ants?
I don't wanna hear your excuses! The credit has to be at least… three times bigger than this!

    • +3

      He's absolutely right

  • +4

Very mid - don't take the bait, folks. Especially after the 5-10% offers towards the end of last year.

  • +24

2.5%? Seriously? You get better rates with a free Macquarie account. And the gift card actually stacks with cashback. This $5 promo credit doesn’t. Avoid.

The more people who boycott these crap deals, the better off we will all be.

    • +1

yep ..no instant discount..McB for the cheap win.

    • What does Macquarie offer for Amazon GC nowadays?

      • still 3% discount

  • 10% again plz

  • Hope people stocked up when gift cards were 10% off.

  • +5

Amazons definitely gotta be testing the limits with these “offers”

  • +2

Not a great deal. I'd rather get cashback from ShopBack provider or like Repstar said, using a Macquarie account. 'Promo Credit' is stupid to spend.
Avoid at all costs, likewise what people said above, resulting in a neg vote for me.

  • $200 minimum spend for a maximum 2.5% of store credit? Taking the P!

You cannot pay for S&S orders with Amazon Credit:

What is happening next year? You will need to pay them to buy a gift card more than you get.

This does not belong on OzB tbh. What a piss poor deal!

  • 2.44% saving. What a deal!
