Still way cheaper to buy one of those adapters and use a 6kg CO2 bottle. $40 refill at kegland

      • +1

        use a 6kg CO2 bottle

Don't have room in the kitchen for 6kg CO2 bottle

          • +2

@PennyPincher11: Nope… Need it hidden in the soda stream machine on the bench… no room anywhere else.

A $10 refill lasts me a couple of months.

            • +2

@jv: makes sense if your refill lasts months as mine barely lasts a week.

Keep it in the garage and use it to refill the sodastream gas bottles.

            @JIMB0: Not very practical.

            • +1

@jv: How so? Its more practical than paying $10 for a swap of that tiny bottle.

You sounding like you have a vested interest in Billy bubbles.

              • @Bruceflix:

                How so?

Can't be bothered walking to the garage, trying to find it and walking back again.

                • @jv: Do a few bottles at a time. It can also be used on your welder as a shielding gas.

              • @Bruceflix: But isn't it a bit of a pain to refill (particularly the pink ones)?
Don't you need to put the bottle in the freezer and keep it cold while slowly refilling?

I'm 50/50 on getting a whole bunch of stuff from kegland to convert one machine and refill for another, but if I could get $10 refills instead of $19 I could see that being worth avoiding the trouble.

                • @NigelTufnel: Probably a bit of a pain. I don't know, I haven't done it. I just got the adapter and 6kg bottle (when it was on sale) from kegland. I have teenagers so would go through the official bottles very fast.

      • +1

        what adaptor?

    • +1

      +1 for Billy Bubbles.

Much cheaper and much more convenient, plus as i understand it, you get more gas than you would from the soda stream ones

    • Everytime I put my postcode in it said I was out of area. I figured they weren't in Brisbane. Apparently they're just not in my side of Brisbane.
      Jerks… /s

  • My sodastream has lost fizzing the drink. I saw on YouTube about how to fix it by putting a foil piece in it but i couldn't open mine up. Any suggestions? Otherwise its just a waste of bench space at the moment

Sodastreams are Good but have a look at drinkmate, can fizz anything and has a slow release vent so nothing explodes. Absolute leap over sodastream and uses standard blue sodastream co2 bottles.

Got the $88 Black Friday deal which was awesome with 3 x 1L bottles, 2 x 500ml, spare gas and 2 flavours.

It's actually a lot better than I expected, the Pepsi Max actually tastes like Pepsi Max!

It's a sure win for our family and would recommend, will save a lot of trips to the container exchange.

  • The $40 Spirit one from Kmart last week was better.

  • More expensive than last deal and would much rather support an Oz brand, sodaking.

    • Do they use the same CO2 cylinders?

      • Not this sodastream version, as it uses the pink quick connect bottles.
One reason I replaced my dead sodastream with a sodaking instead.
Sodastream trying to lock you into their ecosystem since others are now competing.

  • Is there any places in Sydney near the CBD that do cheap refills?
