  • heard reviews saying the suction is inferior than most of the brand's hand held, anyone can comment?

but it seems alright for $279 to buy a living room looker that's capable for some light weight vaccuming.

I tried this few years ago (2021) and return it back to Dyson within their 45 money back guarantee. It's super lightweight and easy to manouver to every corner and under furniture. It's great for quick cleaning, but not meant for deep cleaning. I would love to keep it but couldn't justify the price back then at $399 just for an additional vacuum. I have since brought Dyson V12 slim which I'm happy with.

I have it and love it. You just have to have buy it knowing precisely what it's for. I have a small 50sqm apartment with hard wood floors and space is a premium and I need to buy the smallest version of everything that I can. I imagine this would also be great if you have a big house but use it solely in one area, like a basement, living room, or upstairs etc.

The people that are disappointed are the ones expecting this to have the battery life and grunt of a full sized vacuum. It's a ridiculous expectation to be honest, especially if you've ever seen how small this is in person.

Think of this more of an electric broom (and a very good one at that).

Also, the salesmen at The Good Guys told me it only had the battery life for no more than about 30sqm of vacuuming which is absurd. It would have turned me off, but 30sqm sounded so ridiculous it didn't pass the sniff test so I just assumed he didn't know what he was talking about…and I was 100% correct. On standard power mode, I can vacuum my entire apartment about 3 times over (so 150sqm), on high powered mode I can do about half of that. For the size and weight of this thing, it's exactly what I would have expected so I'm happy.

Finally, the broom handle style grip (and pivoting head) is awesome. As someone with a lot of hand and arm injuries I have a good sense of what is well designed (ergonomically) as anything other than perfect will begin hurting within minutes and this feels fantastic. I used a traditional gun-style handle recently and hated it, it's hard to go back IMO.

If I didn't already own one I would buy this in a heartbeat.

The only negative I would say is the dock - it will slip out the first few times you use it. Once you know to push it in properly it'll never be a problem again. But it could have been slightly better designed IMO.

tldr: a great product ruined because of poor marketing, setting up totally misguided expectations about what this product is and isn't.

Just to be clear, it doesn’t do any mopping right?

    • Nope, it's a dry vacuum.

  • I assume probably no good for cat hair?

    • Good with cat hair, terrible with human hair. That being said, every Dyson I've had has been terrible with human hair, for my next one I'm definitely going to get the model with the head designed for human hair (the one with the cone shaped internal part).

    Dyson V8 Vacuum was $329

  • We love ours, very easy to twirl around for a quick clean of hard floors. Battery life is more than enough to do our whole (little) house on the low power. The main annoyance to me is that the little castors can get jammed with hair and there’s no easy way to disassemble them to clean. The dust compartment is quite small so needs frequent emptying. The battery is very easy to swap out.

    Thanks OP!
Bought one for my 16 months son.

    • Um what

      • i assume his kid makes a bit of a mess, so he wants something that's small and agile than a regular larger vac. I guess if you're vacuuming 5 times a day rather than once a week, something like this might be a better fit. Just a theory.

  • Choice has it on the list to avoid last year, but it sounds like there are some possible uses for it
