dont go near these if you remotely care about your feet

      • Stupid question but do you need thick socks to wear these regularly or will normal ones be fine ?

        • +1

You can wear thick or normal socks; it is up to you. I wear either ones depends on weather. I have brown Xain for 5 years, they still going strong.

      • What makes you recommend these compared to others?

        • I am not making any recommendation or comparison to others (welt boots). I just said Rivers welt boots are not the same as other rivers shoes. They are good welt boots.

      • Dr. Martens are better 😉😀

        • I want the NIN ones

    • I still have a decent (imo) pair of boots from them. Not worn very often until fairly recently, but they've held up since I bought them in 2018. Unfortunately, they don't sell that particular variant anymore.

    • Since when have they turned bad? We have a couple of them from 3 years ago and they are our fav shoes.

worst. shoes. EVER!! Don't do it - just don't! Several family members of mine and I bought a bunch of different types/sizes a while ago - NEVER AGAIN! You've been warned…

    • +3

Agree with this, I ordered two pairs of boots, both broke on first wear. Customer support got snarky with me. They were cheap enough to toss and learn my lesson

    • The few pairs of womens leathersoft shoes that I bought for myself and my mum have lasted quite well.

    • bought a pair of sandals and the metal on the strap rubbed my skin so much i still got scars

OzSale has a lot of Rivers shoes shipped by Mosaic Brands (who own Rivers) with free shipping. For example these $19.50 slip ons are $18.68 delivered on OzSale

    Poop.
I ordered 8 pairs of junk shoes.
Time to give them out as birthday presents to people I hate.

    Still too expensive, worst quality..

  • +4

I bought these and my feet literally fell off. Never again…

    Last time I bought a pair of Rivers branded boots on the inside of the boot it said "2 year guarantee". After 14 months the zipper broke so I contacted Rivers who replied with;

"Due to the nature of the issue and the length of ownership, this would be defined as resulting due to general wear and tear, and not due to a manufacturing fault.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us."

Pretty average "guarantee" if you ask me.

    • +1

What bullshit. Damage under normal use is exactly the type of thing a guarantee would be expected to cover. Wouldn't be surprised if that's not legal.

Rivers …. back in the 1980's they were a trusted brand with prices to match but these days I'd probably look at Temu for shoes before Rivers.

    • I hate that brands do that. Build up a reputation and then coast for years on it selling crap.

    • It was probably, the late 80s when Rivers business model changed from manufacturer to importer.

  • Are the sizes selected in AU? There’s a conversion chart available but can’t tell what you’re selecting

Any of you gentlemen size 11?

  • What is the return policy? Point three is confusing.

If I ship back at my own cost will I still recieved cash back for a purchase made after 28 October?

  • +1

I would never trust a business who has let their shopfront look like this for years on end - it's been like that for at least 10 years.

A genuine eyesore out the front of the busiest shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast.

  • The cheapest quality you'll ever find.

  • Only goes up to size 12, and they're mostly unavailable.

  • You couldn't pay me enough to wear these crappy shoes. Rivers was ok back in the day, now it's just terrible.

  • The local rivers in my area is closing down and they had like 70% off most of the store, not just shoes better off going in store

    • +1

      they're all closing down…

  • Damn that's cheap… spent $300 on a variety of boots, hopefully they're not too bad of quality :)

  • Always find it amusing reading the 'worst shoes ever' comments. Obviously noone's going to run a marathon or climb a mountain in a $25 pair of shoes. I've worn the jeremy hikers almost every day for over a year on regular walks to the shops etc and even long rides and they've faired and felt better than many $120+ casual shoes I've owned. Best to dial down the hysteria and think about fit for purpose.

PS: My pickup store was oos and unlike many shitty businesses who would simply cancel the order, they just switched it to free delivery from the whouse

  • I got 2 different pairs last sale..around $10 each I think through Rivers on eBay.
They ended up sending me double the order but I was honest and let them know so they sent a courier to collect the doubles.
After using for a few days I wish I returned the whole lot. Terrible shoes and much bigger sizes than normal (yes I did check the size / conversion correctly).
I donated one pair to charity and kept another as a 'backup' - but they are still sitting in the box over a year or more later. The rubber will probably degrade before I ever use them.
    I don't recommend.
