Another new offer for the new year:

Here's what your friends need to do, so you could both earn that sweet $125

The friends or family members you refer will need to complete the below eligibility criteria before 31 March 2025.

2 Deposit $1,000+ from an external source into their new Orange Everyday account within a calendar month.

3 Make 5+ settled (not pending) purchases using their new Orange Everyday card within any calendar month.

4 Open a Savings Maximiser (if they don't have one already) and activate it by depositing any amount into it.

Once all steps are completed we'll pop a $125 bonus into both yours and your friends’ Orange Everyday accounts. This can take up to 30 days to be paid and in some cases it may take longer.

You can spend or save the $125 however you like, maybe some new shoes or pickle ball lessons.. if that's your thing. Think of it as a little thank you for referring us.

  • Does this work for existing ING users?

    • If you got an email with the offer, you can refer friends.

    • In what respect?
If you don’t have an account you won’t get the offer.
Or if you already have an account and you get a referral from someone else?
As obviously it’s to attract new customers, so if you’re already with them you cannot be referred.

  • +4

Why no referral system here ?

    • +2

Probably because it is targeted, not all ING referrals will have the offer

    • Request made for them to re-enable it.

    • +8

Because ING literally mentioned last time in the TS and Cs that sign ups through ozbargain that they track would be excluded haiyaaa

      • +2

At least now there is a system for people can randomly contact individual for code.

      • Ah that makes sense now- thought it was odd the referral was to enable PM!

  • +1

How long does my deposit need to stay there? 1 day, 1 month, or until bonus?

    • i would say until bonus to be safe

    • +3

For the $1000 deposit it only needs to be in your account for 1 second, you can leave $.01 in your Savings Maximiser until you get the bonus but it is until the end of the month you signed up. The transactions you can do 5 x 1 cent transactions somewhere or 5 x $25 Revolut account top ups.

  • +9

The offer does not apply where your friend has opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed)

This would exclude a lot of Ozbargainers

    • Will need to check my records but I think I'm excluded.

    • +1

      Dunno how this is legal.
Data should be deleted by around 7 years for inactive clients. Seems dodgy af.

      • +1

        Agreed. Should AFCA them.

      • Pretty sure it's a legal requirement and all banks do this..

  • How can I find out if I'm able to refer a friend apart from the email notification?

    • From my experience, you need to receive the email. No other way to find out.

      • +1

just to add to this : "The offer applies in respect of the original recipient of this email only."

      • +2

        They also send SMS invitation.

    WARNING:

Be very very careful with this - it sounds much easier than it actually is.

In reality, bonuses very often do not get paid until you chase them up constantly, and they also randomly flag people for no reason (mate of mine had to call again and again, verify his ID at a police station, still verify again).

See previous posts for these discussions, but my advice would be to stick with referring people to Revolut (between $60-$140pp), and you can actually track progress for each person.

    • +3

There was a point about 3 years ago where they just overall went completely downhill - used to be friendly fast service and jumping through hoops actually got you worthy benefits over other accounts.

I moved to another bank after they stopped the international ATM rebate as there was now a lot of hoops to jump through for a bank that doesn't offer a suitable credit card and wouldn't lend even a tiny amount to me for a cashflow positive property under $100,000 (I got the loan with CBA instead at the time, and unsurprisingly paid it back without issue for 10 years…).

I've also heard stories of hours on hold with them as well as referral issues.

    • +2

Yes when I referred my brother recently, it took like 2 months for them to verify ID etc.. Total headache and I doubt they would pay us the bonus.

    • +2

I also want to express caution. ING only paid up for the Menulog deal once I got AFCA involved. ING's support and claims team refused to pay

    • @Uncle Rodger Can't you do both Revolut and ING? I don't know I have earned over 2k from ING referrals haven't really had that much in terms of issues.

Revolut is a tough sell they do all the work and you get all the money do I find that is harder to make money from. Like tell someone you need to spend $10 3 times in this time period but you get nothing in return and see how many people do it. I've also heard more stories of Revolut disqualifying referrals for whatever reason.

      • Hard enough getting people to do this. People who are keen do it instantly while others cbf even if you beg them

    • Haiyaaa! I have to put my leg down from chair

  • +1

So only those who receive e-mails from them can refer otherwise you can't refer from the app itself.

  • +2

I was getting spammed with this when the offer was $50, and now I actually know someone who would use it but I haven't been offered it.. cmon ING, just send it to everyone.

    • +1

They don't send all marketing to everyone, they base marketing to existing customers with the following criteria "We take into account your socio-demographic and financial data" - this is purely in reference to marketing, under the heading 'To promote, offer and distribute to you our Products and Services.' found here: https://www.ing.com.au/privacy.html

      • +2

I wonder if and how they take into account the number of eneloops owned when calculating socio-demographic and financial data

        • Quite possibly, lol

  • +4

in all my years with ING, I have never been sent this offer

    • Have you opted out of marketing emails with ING?

      • +2

TBH I have no idea, and can't find where to opt in and out for this either…tried the web login and app

  • Good offer honestly, I only had $50 signup when I first signed upto them in like 2018 or 2019 may be

  • -2

    $200 menulog was awesome.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
It is a very decent offer.

  • not targeted, but using my code's url still shows the referral bonus = $100, not sure works or not

  • I tried last time and after numerous phone calls they never let me create an account. Not worth them money

  • Is the referral system going to be refreshed?

    • It already has.

      • Thanks, I didn't get a prompt (alert) about it. Checked and sorted now.

  • +2

I can't figure out how to add my referral code to the referral system for this one. Normally I can just enter a code for other places, but when I click on Edit and I just get:

Until 31/03/2025, referrer and referee will each receive $125 for opening new Orange Everyday & Saving Maximiser Accounts.

Referrer: Do not participate in the referral system if you do not have a current $125 referral code.

Referee: To qualify, you are required to deposit a minimum $1,000 from an external source into the new Orange Everyday account, deposit any amount into the a Savings Maximiser Account, and make at least 5 (settled) card transactions within any calendar month with the new Orange Everyday card.

Instruction: Your referral link and code should be emailed directly to you from ING. Do not participate in the referral system if you do not have a CURRENT referral code.

Private Message: Allow referees to contact me via Private Message.

There's just nowhere to enter the referral code or URL…is there somewhere else I should be looking?

    • +1

You tick the box to allow PM.

  • +1

So many people have shared their stories about this, I would like to remind you guys one more time: it's frustrating to chasing up your bonus even if you have definitely met all requirements they ask you to do. Banks are supposed to be the most trustworthy places, but ING is more like a shady company.

  • Didn't receive the email

  • Can you take the $1000 out straight away or have to keep it in the account until the $125 is paid?

    • +1

u can take it straight away

  • +1

Been happy with ING for 15+ years
$460ish interest per month with the Savings Maximiser is easy enough with $100k savings.

  • I referred my partner and I had to beg them to pay the bonus despite met all requirement, my partner finally got her paid, but still mine hasn’t been paid when I asked them again they simply said they have no record of it. My advice, don’t waste your time with ING, I know others who was never paid.

  • +1

Thanks, better than the last offer, but still difficult to convince friends to go through the process. Such is life.

  • do they even follow through on this? got it like 6months ago, had 2 mates do it who've fulfilled everything and still use their accounts….. all of us, still yet to receive anything from it.

  • Great offer again!

  • Is the $125 taxable?

If you don’t supply your TFN will ING withhold the tax?

    • I'm not a tax adviser, but I don't believe it is.

It is not an interest payment or a capital gain so there isn't really any category that you would declare it under.

      • It is described as a ‘bonus’.

I’m thinking it might be considered income.

        • Late reply here but my approach would be to see if it autofills in the tax return and if it doesn't, just leave it out.

  • +2

ING is losing customers badly due to their lack of service and brazen behaviours. Stopped banking with them last year after being a customer for 24 more years. Take my advice and keep it away from these people for your good health.

  • +1

I've got at least 4 people I can signup to this. That's… $1000 total pay out. I've just signed up myself using my partners referral. After hearing of some people's trouble with ING claiming they had no record of the referral code being used, I've just messaged them to confirm the code has been captured. If they can't confirm, I'll at least have a written record of something which will hopefully make a resolution easier if I have any trouble.

  • +1

Or you can get referral from this guy who is willing to sacrifice his $25 bonus lol

    https://www.airtasker.com/tasks/16837834

  • not all the referrals come from email, they've been sending SMS with the codes.

(also, remember that if you hadn't recived an email - you might've opted out of marketing emails)

  • -1

    Are these targeted?

  • +1

Why wouldn't referral links be allowed when it's literally a post that needs links. Not everyone here has an IGN account and or knows someone with one.
    Really dumb rule.

    • Someone without an ING account just needs to click the referral button at the top of the page. That's how referrals work on Ozbargain and it's how they've always worked.

      • -1

        Invalid promo code

        • Invalid promo code

I assume that's what you got when you PM'd someone and asked for their code? That's because the numpty who shared their code with you gave you an invalid code, just ask for another one. It would have made zero difference if they gave it to you in a link, the link is just the URL with the code already in it. It has "refer?code=<code>" in it.

Even the instruction email I got from ING for my code just says

Open an Orange Everyday at ing.com.au/everyday and enter the promo code you give them in the box at the end of the online form.

          • @freefall101: Maybe I'm stupid,
But you did say use the referral button at the top of the page.
            which doesn't work….

            • @TrumpisKing: Do you see this when you click on the link?

Send private message to a random referrer. A standard request will be sent, and you can add additional information below that will be included in the message. Please keep it in a single line and less than 120 characters.

I had trouble to sign up for a new account. Called and they told me I used to register with them from
2018. Even my account is closed, I still have a record with them that’s why I can’t be treated as new customer. Also, I have no Everyday account from 2018, it still doesn’t be considered as openning a new Everyday account. This is insane. Stay away from them. Very dodgy.

  • how long does it take for the referral bonus to come through ?
