Has been sub $200 before but if you're looking for an ice cream maker for summer, this is the one. If you're a couple or only need a small amount, the deluxe is overkill FYI.

The Ninja Creami is a fabulous icecream maker - I just recently purchased the Deluxe version.

It sure doesn't look like what's in that image. Or in the link.

Pretty sure OP has linked to the wrong product. A lot.

    • Worth getting the deluxe over this?

      • +2

NO! I got the deluxe because I thought, bigger containers! But the bigger containers are more a hassle because they are… SO BIG. If you have a regular fridge, it takes up so much space. I have 7 containers and it takes up 1 entire shelf. Remember, you need to freeze it on a flat shelf. Also all the extra "modes" on the deluxe, are not much different to the modes on the regular version. I think, lite ice-cream and sorbet literally do the same thing. If you are getting it for eating healthy but also count calories, much easier to have the regular version, so you can do, 1 regular tub = 1 serve. However in the deluxe, its more like 1 tub = 2 serves. Just a tad inconvenient. Especially if you do mix-ins. Because if its a fresh batch, you blend the entire tub, then do your mix ins > eat half the tub > then the next day you got to wait for 2 extra minutes for the machine to blend the top half (even though there is nothing there), then blend it again. Then your mix-ins from the last time you ate, aren't really mix-ins, its more like it just got blended into it.

        • I have the deluxe and the size of the pint is perfect for a family of 4 to consume delicious frozen yoghurt in one 'sitting'. For more decadent options (read as non-negotiable 'precious') I do the top only with mix-ins and eat everything and next time I do the bottom with a different mix in. @xNik have you looked at the double choc brownie rocky road recipe in the booklet - this may help you with the issues you have explained above.

        • The blending the top half even when there's nothing there is annoying, particularly because it's so loud. I figure it does that just in case someone presses bottom when they didn't mean to, but there's obviously a pressure sensor in there because you can hear it change speeds sometimes depending on what it's grinding, so I don't know why they didn't leverage that. I get the vibe it might have been rushed out the door a bit, see also the bug where if you leave it plugged in continuously it throws an E1 overheating error.

          • @danwylie: on the user manual 2nd page i think it was point 4.

Turn the appliance OFF, then unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts, and before cleaning. To unplug, grasp the plug by the body and pull from the outlet. NEVER unplug by grasping and pulling the flexible cord.

            • @da1nonly: I don't think that explains the E1 overheating error code. Particularly since unplugging and immediately re-plugging "fixes" it

That buys a shitload of ice cream.
As much as I love ice cream, the ingredient cost add up. Would have to eat about 2L every other day to make it worth it. lol

Is anyone buying an ice cream machine to save money as though it’s a home coffee machine? I look at this more as a fun little hobby where you can experiment with flavours and recipes

        • +3

And control the ingredients, for allergies etc

          Vegan/allergen free icecream is expensive!

      • It does more than ice cream but I tthink the drawcard with these is you can use quality ingredients or make ice cream without preservatives or other additives.

  • Wrong link mate

ok price. I believe its been this price since the $188 price about 10 days ago from Amazon/GG etc.

    • Correct, I've been tracking it. Hard to say it's a deal in that respect…

I wonder how this one compares to the Anko $49 deal, which has a compressor.

    • Completely different technology. Both will make ice cream but very differently.

    • This is will better than an anko compressor ice cream maker the only issue is you have to pre freeze the ingredients.

      • You also have to run the machine every time you want to scoop ice cream.

        • No you dont? It basically makes a tub of ice cream you scoop from.

          • @Spendmore: What i mean was that once you put the ice cream back in the fridge you will need to re-run the ninja to scoop

            • @OhMaJuck: Won't it stay in icecream form once churned?

              • +1

@impoze: If it goes back in the freezer, it will become a solid block, so you will need to use the Ninja to make it creamy.

                • @OhMaJuck: I see, I thought that once it's churned it will be like normal ice cream and you can freeze and scoop it

                • @OhMaJuck: Maybe it's because we haven't left it in the freezer for a long time, but we've made a pint, eaten some, put it back in freezer, then the next night we take it out, just let it sit outside for 5-10mins then it's ready to eat, just as good as the first night.

            • +1

@OhMaJuck: In the fridge is ok but yeah you can put it in the freezer but would need to churn like you said. These containers are pretty small though, a couple would probably use one in a sitting.

I got the anko one last week and made the chocolate ice cream in the recipie book last night, it turned out amazing. Extremely happy for $49

      • Cheers. Bought but haven't used yet! Thanks for the motivation 😃

Some people might want to wait for this model instead

    • +1

Wonder what the price will be though

    • This looks much more interesting.

    • More parts to clean, more mechanics means possible more issues. bigger countertop space, heavier. More adjustments. Just to squeeze out like soft serve. I'm in

      • +1

Better than going to Maccas only to find their soft serve machine is not working. 🤦‍♂️

        • -1

Don't know about your Macca's, most of the Macca's around me have upgraded so vanilla is usually available, chocolate sometimes not available.

    • I think it might be out of order as much as the soft serve at maccas because no one wants to clean it.
I mean, its dairy, you can't just leave it.

  • this same model is currently $207 at costco i believe? or $200? definitely lower than $213 but not by much

  • Bought on the 27th Dec for $188 - and it's awesome

  • Does anyone have a list of staples to get with this and where's best to buy?

I watched a few videos and they need Xantham Gum, vanilla extract besides other core ingredients like milk.

    • That sounds pretty good. Might also need a handheld mixer and a sweetener. A tiny bit of cream cheese also makes it taste really nice!

      Not so healthy version -

      Milk/Pouring Cream/ Condensed Milk - Aldi/Coles/Woolworths

I've got the Deluxe so as a base its literally -
      150ml Pouring Cream/150ml Condensed Milk/150ml Milk
Add whatever flavours you want - pinch of salt to bring out the flavours, 1/3 teaspoon of guar/xantham gum and then again fill it up with milk to line (700ml) - Could either put it in a blender prior to mix it all or use an immersion blender and blend it all within the pint itself.

      Freeze for 24hrs

      Healthier version -
Protein Powder - From Amino Z

2 scoops of protein power, pinch of salt, fill milk to line (Powder already has gum)

      freeze for 24hrs

I've had this since the start of 2024 and havent bought ice cream from the store since…

      • I've already got protein from Amino Z so I'll give that a go once I get the machine.

Where are you buying your xantham gum?

        • Currently using "Macro Xanthan Gum 100g" from woolworths - $5.50 for the packet.

  • Usually dispatched in 1-2 months when I view the actual listing. Who wants to wait that long?
