I've been so tempted by this, I've got $600 in gift vouchers and can't decide between this and a Pellet Smoker…

    • +3

It's really, really good. I picked one up during black friday deals and couldn't be happier.

Although now I'm spending too much money on filament, dessicant and now a filament dryer. Not a cheap hobby!

      • +2

Yeah I've been wanting to get into 3D printing and this seems like a great entry even though it's quite expensive. I feel like with 3d printing or even smoking meats which I also want to get into you end up spending extra money on top either way. I just wish all the gift cards I have could be used at the bambu store, they're limited to whatever prezzee have.

A1 or the A1 mini would be a far cheaper entry point.

A1 at least can do the same size prints. Check out reviews as the print outputs are quite similar to thw P1S and higher end X1C model.

        • +2

You could always go with the A1. The A1 is great. My SIL's partner has one, and was the push for me getting the P1S.

I opted for the P1S because I wanted the enclosed printer/AMS and ability to print ABS and ASA. You can enclose the A1 and AMS lite, but I chose convenience.

Also I have a shedding cat so the less cat furr which could get into the printer from day one, the better.

There are much cheaper options to get into the world of 3d printing, as long as you can sacrifice multiple colours, and maybe print speed. For example a Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro is a good option at around $250. Or get the Neptune 4 which is a lot faster for a little more. There are obviously other brands around as well, but probably depends on what you want to print.

If you want to impress people, and you have the money and don't mind all of the wasted plastic poop, then multiple colours is the way to go.

      • Get a big tub from bunnings and chuck in some Damp Rid.
        Does the trick for me.

      Print a pellet smoker!

      • haha

    • +1

Go the Printer first. You can print parts for the smoker, but you can't smoke parts for the printer. (Can't print anything that goes inside the smoker of course. But can do accessories, etc. I printed parts for a custom damper system to control temps)

I thought that I would have to buy a new one on Sunday, and spent 3 1/2 hours greasing andm cleaning the unit.
Unit wouldm not home to Z axis, and probably appeared to be a few bits of plastic scrap at bottom of Carbon rods (plus I had some filament stuck in the extruder).

  • +1

Expecting a permanent price drop once the new flagship comes out.

    • +5

Maybe on the X1C, but unlikely for the P1

    • +1

Unlikely, there will always be a market for 256mm printers. The new larger format printer won't sell as well as 256mm machines.

      • Yeah but they will be releasing AMS 2 as well.

        • I'm hoping it is compatible with P1/X1 printers. I think BL is going to release 2 version of AMS2 - AMS2 base and AMS2 Pro(probably has an inbuilt dryer)

          • @RADICALIST: Do you have any links about possible details?

  • +2

Not sure where people are seeing 1249 with shipping, but for me at least there $50 shipping cost direct from Bambu.

I recently purchased from Thinglab in Melbourne because they had stock for pick up at $1299. So same price as with shipping from Bambu.

    • +1

Yeh I thought there was always a shipping cost direct from Bambu.

Says calculated at checkout but need to log in to get that far so I cant be bothered checking.

      • +2

Yeah I bought in December and it was a $50 shipping fee + International credit card fee

    • +2

Yes, I get a $50 shipping charge as well direct from Bambu. Amazon is cheaper @ $1279.624 if you can get 3% discounted GCs

  • +5

I got mine in December and it's phenomenal. I've printed more since it arrived 3 weeks ago than I managed on my Ender 5 in the last 2 years. This thing doesn't miss a beat.

    • +2

Same here! Their reputation as a printer that 'just works' is well-earned. It's such a pleasure to focus on printing things instead of cursing the device that's supposed to be doing the printing.

  • which is better the p1s combo or p1p combo ?

    • P is a bit more cut down, not enclosed. S ain't much more, but can better handle different filaments.

personally, i'm skint, but i'd stump for the P at a minimum.

if money's that tight, get the A1, much nicer User interface, and cheaper….
      (takes up more space tho)

    • The S. Buy the S if you think you'll want to print more advanced filaments, as they require a chamber to print properly.

    • dont buy the p1p unless you know you gonna need fully enclosed in the future but dont have the money yet, that would be the only reason.

otherwise you should always just go with A1 series, or P1S.

  • +3

sub 1200$ or get out of here.

but i do upvote your effort put it up.

  • My fat ass thought this was a drink dispenser
