Anyone Running Samsung Galaxy S24 FE/+/Ultra Global Variant Pared with AU Galaxy Watch?

I'm looking to upgrade my aging Samsung phone to an S24 FE/+/Ultra Global variant so I can use dual sim when I'm overseas (AU version doesn't appear to support dual sim with both sims active at one time).

Is anyone rocking this setup pared with an AU Galaxy watch series 5 or newer? If so have you noticed any issues/missing features/gotchas?

  • Are you sure that you can't use dual sim with AU model ? As I remember my sister used S24 Ultra once with roaming. I can confirm my S23 Ultra supports dual sim.

    • Generally Australian models are 1 physical Sim, 1 esim. I believe OP wants two physical sims.

@jimmyjamesjimmy I've had all kinds of glitches with AU phone+watch over the years. 98% of the time it's generally okay tho. Don't stress and get the phone that suits your use.

      • Hey Brotality, thanks man. Yeah I suppose glitches are to be expected, pretty much just need to be able to use the AU watch for notifications via gsm and bluetooth and I'm hoping the global version of Samsung phones don't have compatibility issues with the AU watch as the non-AU watch variants don't work on our gsm network.

    • Hey bazingaa, I've found with AU models they disable the 2nd physical sim or if you have 1x physical sim and 1x esim and you can't enable both at the same time. I want to be able to use 2x physical sim at the same time or 1x physical sim and 1x esim (or more) at the same time, and then be able to choose which is my primary sim for data and still receive calls/sms to both sim numbers or even a 3rd number.

When you say "supports dual sim" what is the dual functionality supported and do you mean you can enable both sims at the same time, or do you mean you can have two sims installed but not necessarily have both enabled at the same time?

I can use sim + 1 eSim simultaneously (you can store more eSims, but only activate 1 at a time as it has hardware for only one eSim), there is no physical sim2 slot. Both my S23 ultra and wife's S22 works like that, we can use both sim + eSim simultaneously, like the old days with 2 physical sims.

I had a S10 Snapdragon (HK model) before and it had 2 physical sims, that also worked simultaneously.
I am not that aware about S24 models you mentioned, so better to check for a person who got them.

btw, I haven't tried dual sims with the watch, I have a separate eSim in watch 6, not the number in my phone.

I dont believe Samsung would be going backwards with the dual sim functionality. I got an Australian S22 Ultra and I can confirm dual sim (1 physical + 1 esim) works overseas. Both my Sims are from different countries, not from the destination I am going.

        • Interesting so sounds like I can at least get 1x physical + 1x esim to work at the same time.

@jimmyjamesjimmy: If you are not confident, you can call Samsung helpline to confirm. They will say it works because it does. Use esim for Australian number and leave the physical one for travelling. Some countries like China dont have esim system yet.

You'll have dual sim both active regardless of the model. AU model has only 1 physical sim slot so the other will have to be esim. Or you can have 2 esims active, I've used my AU S24 Ultra overseas many times.
