Decent price if you didn't already get one from previous deals.

Maybe for the refurb version. I'm waiting for the The Good Guys' deal.
Anyone else waiting for the DJI Flip instead?
Seems to be positioned in between this and a mini, if the rumours are to be believed.
It will be more expensive, but hopefully not prohibitively so. Expected to arrive in the next couple of weeks.I would get the Neo based purely on price if it had a better camera.
I've got a Mini 4 Pro, Avata 2 and Neo.
Use my Neo with Motion 3 and Goggles 3 but the Goggles N3 are good enough if anyone wants to head that wayThe Neo is awesome and you can basically get pricing on Flip now as it's all leaked, convert to AUD and add a bit until you are at $X99 and that'll be the price. Yes Neo camera is kind of underwhelming..Flip will be the same camera sensor as Mini 4 Pro which is insanely good.
Neo is great to thrash around. This video is a really good indication of why I love my Neo so much. It's kind of unique.
https://youtu.be/S5ozr618lfU?si=zNK3EM7efXSm8swPI'm sure this is a massive coincidence (as this guy is from the US) but I've just been reading a Reddit Review of the Neo, by a guy who has those exact three models of drones.
If I can get the Neo cheap enough, I may just do that, but the camera really does worry me.
I almost did get it during Black Friday sales, when it was $416 Delivered for the Fly More Combo, but too slow to check out.yep having those 3 models is kind of standard because the Mini 4 Pro (sold my Mini 3 Pro to justify it) was best bang for buck. Avata 2 was so different that many got on that and then from there, wow. It was like "I bought a Avata 2 with a Motion 3 and a Goggles 3 which just happen to work with the Neo so I'd be insane not to get a Neo because I already have all the pricey accessories lol".
You being worried about the Neo camera makes sense. For me I just say this to people. Watching your stuff on your phone? Sharing your stuff with friends, family, social media? But a Neo. Watching your Neo videos on a 98" 4k TV or on a Meta Quest 3? Then don't buy a Neo.
Yeah Fly More around that price is unbelievable value.
Sounds like the Flip might tick all your boxes.
@seamonkey: Yeah, it does, but I can guarantee you the wifey will be much happier with the price of the Neo!
My worry is that the Flip may end up being too close to the Mini 4 Pro in pricing for me to stomach.
The video I linked had it rumoured at the following (and I'm sure you're right and expect to see those numbers rounded up to $X99)
Drone Only - US$460 (AU$740)
Drone + RC2 - US$670 (AU$1078)
Fly More Combo - US$800 ($AU$1288)We'll see soon, hoping to pick something up in the next few weeks, before a family trip in Feb.
That video you linked seems to be a great advert for the durability of the Neo by the way. The flip doesn't look anywhere near as crash-resistant.
If I can get the Neo cheap enough, I may just do that, but the camera really does worry me.
Might be a bit of a controversial thing to say, but I really see the Neo as a "flyer's" drone, not as a filmmaker's drone.
If you want high quality cinematic video, you're not going to get it with the Neo - the Mini 4 Pro (or even older versions) serve that purpose. The fun of the Neo is in how easy and convenient it is to fly and its compatibility with the the Motion controller and Goggles.
There is a lot of fun to be had without ever recording a single video with the Neo - put on the goggles and you can have lots of fun getting different perspectives on various sights, appreciating breathtaking scenery, seeing landscapes you wouldn't otherwise be able to see. Its camera is more than good enough for live viewing.
It's very much a drone that's built for "living in the moment", it's compact, easy to launch, robust, and you don't need to be intentional and careful about the way you fly it (as you would be with a Mini). It also helps that it's cheap.
If you've ever dreamed of being a pilot, but the costs, risks, or life situation hasn't allowed you to, the Neo with Goggles is about as close as you can get to that experience. If you've dreamed of being a stunt pilot, then I guess you'd probably want the Avata.
@HiredGoon I grabbed the neo as a christmas present for my 7 year old. I've previously owned other DJI models and I am a hobbyist landscape photographer so IQ is rather important to me. The Neo camera has some shortcomings, but it's not actually as bad as many make out. I would say the biggest issue is more so trying to get the drone to remain stationary to get a still image that is in focus - the little sucker moves around quite a bit in a photography sense.
Using the RC-N3 controller, put it into Cine mode and as long as there is minimal wind and it's a well lit scene, the footage is more than usable.
Even without log format, you can still manage to recover some detail in post. I am also going to try running some clips through Topaz video AI* to see how it performs as the usability of the neo is second to none. 7 year old was flying it like an old pro in a few minutes after takeoff ;-)Compared to other drones, people seem way less deterred by the neo also. Flying a drone has always come with negative connotations in my experience, whilst people seem genuinely curious about the 'cuteness' of the neo and less confrontational about operating a drone in their vicinity.
- If TopazAI works well, this will be fantastic for us as we put together travel videos (for personal / family use) and being able to take the neo on trips will be great. I already have +7kg of camera gear so very limited in adding more kit to my carry on :-)
So not worth getting mini 4 pro at the moment…?
It's a superb drone. You won't regret it. But at least wait to see the Flip in less than 2 weeks. Could be just as awesome for a considerably cheaper price with the same camera.
Then you can factor in the rumours of a 2025 Mini 5 Pro but one thing I'll say about that is it's all down to timing. The market can be slow to catch on so if you have your ear to the ground you can flog your Mini 4 Pro off on eBay a couple of weeks before it's new and improved version arrives. You'd be shocked how little $ you lose. My $1 starting price Mini 3 Pro 10 day auction on eBay almost paid entirely for my Mini 4 Pro and I plan on doing that again once I get wind of the Mini 5 Pro release being imminent.
i think this was 416 from good guys lowest i seen here,,
I hardly see people use drones where i frequently go (Sunshine Coast down to Sydney), so restrictions must still affects a lot.
I only ever use a mavic 2 when we were replacing roof tiles and installing solar panels on 2 storey house.
For me, yeh a Neo to check the solar panels is enoughHow much flight time will I get with this if I buy? And how long does it take to change?
Also what the maximum height and distance? I always wanted one and thinking if I should pull the plug and purchase this.
Varies depending on things like wind and how you fly, but I've had mine for a few weeks now and I get about 15-20mins per battery. When I've wanted to fly for longer than an hour, I've taken a powerbank and charged the used batteries while flying the fresh one.
I haven't paid much attention to how long it charges, but probably an hour or so.
I’m about to pull the trigger for $487. Is this a good bargain?
Anyone please give me some tips on the above? Has this price been the lowest.
I’m getting at $487 with the coupon of $50 off. What am I doing wrong?
Waiting for $299.
