    was $155 ahahahha

  • Which players are playing?

    • +12

Fritz vs Hurkacz and Gauff vs Swiatek which is some of the best games you can watch

    • +3

Krzysztof Kiełbasinski vs Cletus Bradley Freedomson.
      Joanna Ogórkowa vs Savannah Rodeoway.

      • +11

Is this a random name generator?

      • +3

So Chad Baldeagle didn't qualify? Such a shame

      • +1

        Should've put Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz instead.

  • +2

good price for finals, i watched Poland vs Norway when they gave out free tickets and the game was awesome

  • +1

    Crowds have been well down

    • like every other year

    • +4

i dont know how they can afford the participation fees for these tennis players….. the event is surely run at a loss unless the sponsors are paying an arm and a leg each

      • +10

Your tax dollars hard at work. Primary sponsors are the NSW and WA government.

        • +1

          sadly yes

    • +1

The problem is that they charge $155, which is obvious a lot more than people are willing to pay, then do these insane discounts in the finals.

A couple of years ago I paid full price for a game in the Brisbane International, only to have them being given away FOR FREE some days later.

I refuse to pay this price since, but I'd happily pay $80 or so. And that's coming from someone who's paying a 💩load more to watch the Aus Open finals (+flight +hotel).

      • How much does it cost for your Aus Open finals (+flight +hotel)?

        • +1

          $💩,💩💩💩

        • Do you really wanna know, or just trolling?

Of course it costs more, but I was saying they killed the perception of value for the tournament by giving away free tickets, screwing those who had already purchased it.

          • @l o l: I'm genuinely interested as a tennis fan who's not in Victoria.
Also yes, I agree with the UC's heavily discounted/free tickets impacting perception.

            • @Fobsessive: I paid about $1300 for mens (Sunday) + womens (Saturday) grand finals (cheapest seats) + 3 nights of a decent hotel in a great location, sharing with a mate, so $1300 each for both matches + hotel.

As for the flight, that will depend on your location, etc. I used the Amex travel credit thingy, so it was basically free.

I just put aside $100/month so that I can do this every couple of years and have some money to spend while there :)

Edit: just checked the hotel name is Hyatt Centric. Tickets are in the "High Upper Sideline" section, $375 womens final, $405 mens final. We bought through AO Travel, great service.

              • +1

@l o l: That's awesome! Thanks for the details. Have a great one!

      • U spoke it into reality lols

    • +4

I didn’t get this feeling, I’ve been four times this tournament and crowds have been pretty decent. I also felt that there were fewer free ticket deals compared to last year.

The event just needs to get more traction and prestige. And more appreciation; It’s really a great opportunity to see world class tennis around the corner (if you don’t live in Melbourne and live in a participating city), especially compared to the regular ATP/WTA tournament that preceded it which especially in the men’s tournament didn’t have any appealing names. Saw Swiatek-Rybakina yesterday and that match-up is worthy of a Grand Slam semi final if not final.

    • +1

Yeah, the players aren't the usual draw cards. I suspect tennis viewership will be in a bit of a rut unless Sinner and Alcaraz become superstars.

  • Waiting for Promotix bargain! Maybe not this year eh.

  • +2

    WORLDSTAR

  • +4

Stadium full of Ozbargainers! Sounds awesome

Be aware that the $20 seats are listed as having a restricted view.

To the 3 people who downvoted my reply, would love to know why you did, when what I posted is correct.

    • +6

they say restricted view but those seats are actually not restricted as I have been there before

      • +1

Thanks for clarifying, much more helpful than those who just downvote without any explanation.
That's an absolutely idiotic move by Ticketmaster to advertise them as restricted view

        • +1

Idk why Ticketmaster is lying about the seats, they are not restricted as I sat there earlier in the week and the view is anything but. Might be just lying to get people to buy other more expensive but discounted seats. I saw a similar thing with the NRL at accor too with Ticketek, restricted view during finals but not during regular games

          • @Jollystacker: I was looking at tickets yesterday and these restricted view seats weren't for sale. I think these seats have the barriers at eye level so unless you're tall you'll have to lean over or raise your head up to see.

            • @hobo123: not so sure, there are so many rows that are restricted view and the barriers couldnt possibly obscure a view. its usally applicable to the first couple rows but there are so many rows all over that are restricted apparently.

    • +1

      What's funny?

      • You don't think it would be funny if Sydney had F1?

        • Nope, it would be wonderful that any city in our arse end of the world gets to host any world premier level sporting event.

Plus this United cup isn't completely elite level.

  • +1

I would def go if I was in Sydney

    • +2

I would def go if they did the same price for the Brisbane International :)

      • +2

I went to Sydney from Melbourne on those free tickets for the United Cup, and loved it.

I am tired of the massive crowds from the Australian Open here.

        • +2

I go to Aus Open every 2-3 years, and I still like it. Probably because I don't live there :)

      • +3

$20 is a bargain for those games!

  • +4

$155 is far too much. I would lump the Australian Open into this as well. Saturday night Rod Laver tickets are $259 to $419. $419! Once I include a hotel and airfare to fly in to see the match it could be closing in on $1000. To see two tennis matches. My inner Ozbargainer is revolting.

Nope, TV is nice and comfy and gives the best view in the house.

    • -1

Especially with Stan Sport giving 4K quality, 50fps, and absolutely zero ads.

However you still hear the ads playing in the stadium after every change of ends.

  • Thanks OP. Bought 2. Best bargan for 2025!

  • +1

Pols lost last year to the Panzers, so today there may be a reckoning against the Yanks.

  • +3

Not a deal when free tickets are available. https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/event/25006108F13B128E?did=j…

    • It was this morning when the deal was posted. Just report it as expired.

  • -2

    Who’s in Pole position?

  • No more free tickets :(
