Is that anyone having issue who had purchased previously most of the camera starting to dies just after a year warranty?

I have the same cameras just not with solar option. Still going strong after 4 years, no issues at all.

  • RRP a joke, can get 4-cam pack for 1099 at Bunnings too!

Can get at bunnings for 989 with 10% off using devicedeal. I picked up last month.

      • How can one get 10% OFF on this deal ? Asking for a friend 😀

        • The implication here seems to be that you can use Bunnings price beat policy to lower their price.

Show them the lower price at devicedeal in the above comment, and they will beat it by 10% if it meets their conditions.

Eufy stuff seems to have crazy high markups, considering how frequently they're heavily discounted.

  • Those prices are crazy.
Y'all don't have Wyze cams in Oz?

    • +2

You can get them here. Personally I will be buying Reolink as they seem the best price vs features and dont require a subscription service.

      • Eufy don't require a subscription service. Right?

        • Not sure i dont think wayze does. Its something I look for when chosing a system as I dont want to be stuck with ongoing costs.

          • +1

@Spendmore: makes sense. But yeah I'm pretty confident this post is also no subscription but yeah I absolutely take your point.

      • What’s the equivalent Reolink option? I have their door bell, but am sizing up the Eufy 3 Pro. Reolink doesn’t seem to have a similar option yet?

          What’s the equivalent Reolink option?

Not sure there is a direct equivalent, but the Argus Eco Ultra is probably the closest model - 4k resolution, smart detection, wireless connection, battery/solar powered, colour night vision.

They also have a HomeBase device that works in a very similar way to the Eufy one.

    • which Wyze cams have wireless power (i.e. batteries)?

      • i think they have some solar options

    • The Wyse offerings are not really equivalent to this Eufy package - they are a totally local system, including a central recording base and their own separate WiFi network. Also the cameras have 4k resolution, very large integrated batteries and solar panels.

  • What’s a good ssd to pair the s3 home base?

Reolink in my experience has way better detection. I've just finished replacing all mine due to how bad the eufy was.

    • Depends. The best test of the camera is a fast moving target at night. :) Detection is fine but identification is the final frontier.

With these beginner cameras, you will detect but not identify at night.

      • With these beginner cameras, you will detect but not identify at night.

That comes off a bit camera-snobbish, but you sort of have a point.

You would need to spend 3-5x the money to buy cameras good enough for positive identification under all lighting conditions, and they would almost certainly require professional installation. That makes them totally unviable for most people - almost any camera is better than none.

Most of these cameras have their own LED spotlights to enhance picture clarity and improve the prospect of positive identification.

Detection is fine but identification is the final frontier.

You're making assumptions about the purpose of these cameras. Detection is sufficient to automatically trigger additional lighting and/or alert the owners, and this is often sufficient to scare off would-be intruders.

  • I'm swapping out from Eufy and bought the EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP IR Starlight 2.7mm–12mm Vari-focal Turret Security Camera. I know people have hesitation about Chinese cameras but for nighttime identification, it is almost unbeatable at this price range.

These are POE cameras and don't have access to the net, so I am not too worried.

  • Reolink RLC-811A | 8MP 4K outstanding detail at low light night capture and has all the detection features.no sub with local detection at a lower price.

    • You're right that it's another option, and potentially better in many ways - but they're really not directly comparable.

Firstly, the Reolink camera requires ethernet cabling whereas the Eufy works on WiFi. If you have PoE equipment already, that's an advantage - but if you're a renter, installing ethernet cabling in the walls and ceilings isn't an option.

Secondly, the Eufy package includes what's essentially an NVR in a central and a presumably more secure location. In contrast, the Reolink cameras used standalone will record footage to SD card slots inside the cameras, which are not exactly secure. If somebody can physically access the cameras, they can take away the evidence of their presence with them.

I'm a big advocate for wired security camera systems in general, but they're certainly not for everyone.
