Aint nobody got time for that
We have this set, dishwasher ruins it and the metal parts come off after a few washes…
It says dishwasher safe
Dishwasher safe, but hand wash only. So it is safe for dishwashers but should only be washed by hands, makes sense.
yeah… knives in general should just be hand wash only, been to restaurant including one that has the same set as this and the steak knife was so dull it couldn't cut anything at all
Fabrique en chine? vraiment magnifique!
There are plenty of Languiole cutlery sets made in China for cheap. It isn't a "brand" denoting quality, more like calling something "champagne" didn't guarantee high quality in the days when anyone could call their sparkling champagne.
You literally can’t call sparkling wine Champagne - there are a number of rules regarding what Champagne is, and global protections in place that can result in lawsuits for breaches
Did you read mskegg's whole last sentence?
that's right. if it 's not from france they need to call it prosecco
That’s Italian. https://prosecco.com/faq/what-does-doc-mean-in-prosecco/
I really wish brands didn’t do this. It’s time consuming to filter good quality from crappy fake branding (as this is).
The equivalent in Australia is calling something “mineral water” because it has salt and because there are no mineral water standards or regulations.
To add to mskeggs's comment above, this product has regularly been half-price or otherwise discounted going back years (see, for example, here). You would have been tremendously unfortunate to pay the "regular" price.
I bought one of these sets at a second hand shop for 15 dollars and still feel like i didn't get my noneys worth. Started coming apart after a month? Now they're missing most of their clip things on the end. Can't recommend.
Aldi were selling the cheap Laguiole sets for a while too. Very average quality. The genuine made in France sets are a delight to use and have a lifetime warranty. These are landfill in comparison. It's sad they choose to cheapen their brand
On the contrary, Laguiole is a region in France famous for their cutlery - unfortunately it is not a trademarked name so every Tom, Dick and Harry uses the name to trick the average consumer that they are getting quality goods.
Fortunately ozb membership isn't the average consumer… jokes.
Thanks for the info. The genuine french cutlery is great. Its a shame most dont know it exists.
Aldi now call theirs "Lou Laguiole"
I bought multiple sets in Paris in 2016 as a trip memento which are genuine French Laguiole but like much of the stainless steel cutlery around the world today they are prone to rust stains. Other than that, a delightful set of cutlery which remains in daily use
Avoid any Laguiole made in China.
Seems like these have become the universally accepted fake fancy brand
Swiss army knife vibes
Looks like plastic?
"Vegan ivory"
We have this set and we regularly wash them in the dishwasher. We’ve only had one knife that had an issue with this. I think we got ours at 60% off.
I do handwash, and immediately dry, my good cutlery and my kitchen knives.
Hand wash only.
