Anyone familiar with Entertainment Book policy that can help me?

Hi OzBargainers,

Ok so we went out to lunch with my brother in law and his wife today. Group of 10people and had 2 entertainment cards to use.

Entertainment Book offer for this restaurant is 25% (up to maximum value of $30). FYI when 2 cards are used, the Entertainment Book rules state that you are entitled to the 'combined' maximum discount of the 2 cards. In this case each card is worth $30 so 2 cards should be a discount of up to $60.

Total bill came to $131. After they did their calculations, our final balance owing was $98. She said that with the first card, they take 25% off up to $120 value. Then the remaining $11 balance they use the 2nd card to take the additional 25%. I have no idea where this $120 value thing came from and when reading through the rules and book, i can't find anywhere that refers to the $120. It only talks about the total bill.

I can't see how thats right can you??? I didn't have the book in front of me to start calculating and questioning so i have shot off an email to the Ent. Book people but they're shut down. If their wrong in how they've calculated our discount, i'd rather go back and talk to them over the next day or so now that its still fresh in her mind (we spoke to the owner). Can't imagine Ent. Book people getting back to us till next year.

Is anyone familiar with the rules and how the calculations are meant to be calculated? We don't usually use 2 cards so i'm not all that familiar with how it works but from what i've read i don't think they've discounted the bill properly??

Help?

  • That sounds right. 25% off the food bill ($131) is $32.75 which equates to $98.25.

I don't there is any problem with that.

As it is 25% off the total bill up to $30
Basically you need to spend $120 to get maximum $30 for the first entertainment card discount.

So if you expect to get $60 discount your total original bill needs to be at least $240.

As your original bill is only $131 at 25% off so they charge you $98 is correct.

    Mamaof3,
Essentially what has happened is you have gained the maximum discount off the first coupon $30 but as there was only a balance of $11 to discount after the first coupon, the restaurant has taken the 2nd coupon to offer you the $3 discount on this $11.
The $120 they refer to is the amount you spend to gain maximum discount from the one coupon.
