ShopBack Transactions Being Rejected - How Common Is This?

I’m new to this whole cashback thing and I have already had two cashbacks rejected / denied

Now yes, we all know there are terms and conditions.

How often does this happen and have anyone actually made a complaint outside of ShopBack to get it sorted?

I’m a little peeved because a recent deal with Woolworths online ended up being more expensive without the cashback.

Not that I will use this dog (profanity) anymore, but I don’t want to let them just get away with it

I know these are common posts on the forum. Personally, never had any issues with SB or CR
Always use the app, double check t&cs etc

      • Same here. I’ve never had any issues. Only times I’ve been rejected is when I’ve tried my luck using discount codes that aren’t approved (sometimes it works)

    How often does this happen

Typically when the T&Cs that you have read says if using phone, make purchase inside shopback app, but the shopback app opens the woolies app and you continue with it. The tracking details don’t get passed on between woolies and shopback. So you don’t get money back

and have anyone actually made a complaint outside of ShopBack to get it sorted?

ShopBack needs the retailer to honour the commission first. If you can prove they have taken the commission but not pass on to you then yeah sure complain

    • If they say the cashback tracked. Is it usually it gets approved or can they cancel it later on?

This may be the first documented case of a failed cash back. I guess contact them?

  • Mine also got rejected from Woolies too. Ended up paying full price on the damn airtags lol.

Do you have Honey installed? 😉

    • Wasnt there thread said honey reduced cashback amount?

      • There’s also a million YouTube vids on it now. One way Honey works is by stealing the sale attribution. So if the sale goes to Honey instead of CR/Shopback, then CR/Shopback don’t get paid, and neither do you.

        • I c thanks

          • @ATTS: No, I don’t use any VPN or ad blockers

  • Yep I was burnt doing the same… initially it said the cashback tracked ($326) and then came the rejection and when I disputed it, they said I used a promo code and I'm pretty sure I didn't and I can't find anything to that effect in my invoice but I don't know where to take it from here. I thought of CC chargeback but then I don't want woolies to ban me either if it goes through so I think I just learnt a tough lesson not to use shopback for big purchases..

  • I had cashback rejected from an Apple purchase, which would have been the biggest cashback for me, just because I had to exchange the item under warranty because it was damaged when I purchased it. Even though I ended up with the exact same item, and still paid the exact same $$, because there was a warranty claim, ShopBack says they don't have to honour the cashback. Which I think is exploiting the system and a bad faith behaviour.
The argument might be 'well you're getting money for nothing so just be happy to get anything' but cashback factors into our purchase decisions and it makes zero sense why the consumer is slapped because of an issue with their product.
