The only card in AU that is an infinite is the Citibank Prestige, I believe. Just for anyone wondering

    • +2

      Citi Prestige is World Mastercard.

Ah, must have changed: used to be an infinite I’m pretty sure

Enjoy a fast-track to JMB Sapphire status when you purchase a round-trip First-Class or Business Class ticket to Japan on Japan Airlines.

To be frank, the people who are going to be purchasing Business Class tickets on a frequent or any basis is going to get all of the benefits of Oneworld Sapphire anyway.
Frequent long haul Business Class travelers are probably already locked in balls deep into another program or are Oneworld Emerald.

Its a pretty niche target market.

    • +1

Can be useful still. OWS is better than business fares in Japan for domestic, and some people booking business for the long legs still book economy for the shorter ones. But definitely a limited market.

  • +3

Useless. I dont think we have visa infinite card in Australia is there? Citiprestige used to be visa infinite but has changed to mastercard.

    • All the Infinite cards were discontinued and everyone has been switched by this point I think…

  • +1

A very specific example but if you have a Samsung Card in Korea you can upgrade to the Samsung Card THE iD TITANIUM for ₩700k/year (approx AUD 770) then pay approx AUD 800 for a return business class trip with JAL GMP-HND.
Is OW Sapphire worth spending $1570, not for me and my "hack" won't work for most.

  • There are other cheaper ways to achieve OW sapphire or even Emerald. You can actuallu buy them in China! You just need proper connections and be able to speak Chinese.

    • I’ve looked into this on TB but not sure if they are legit… have you tried and if so were you successful?

    • You can buy status' through eBay and through those Chinese sellers. However..

      It is;
      A) A status MATCH or most likely CHALLANGE and will only last around 90 days without the flying to extend
      B) Requires for your passport to be send and for fraud to be committed (they create fake frequent flyer cards under your name and flight history)
