I just had to Haier repair guys out to look at my 9 month old washing machine.
It was still under warranty, but it wasn't Haier's fault it broke. That was a mouse chewing on a wire.
But they charged me $189 for a callout to tell me that to fix my $440 Haier washing machine the single replacement part required, a half meter long electrical cable, including coming out and fitting it, would cost another $650. So even subtracting the callout charge to do that, the price Haier charges for that single replacement part which would cost about $5-$10 to make was more than the cost of another new identical washing machine delivered and installed. There are expensive spare parts, and there are outrageous rip-offs for spare parts, and the latter seems to be the case for Haier.
After my previous Haier washing machine was thrown away because of the cost of repairing a small problem, I think I've bought my last Haier washing machine.
After the repair guys left I took the cable out, got out my soldering iron and repaired the break in it, put it back in, and the washing machine works. All that cost me was that its not under warranty any longer.
