    Great monitor

    Highly recommend.

  • I have 1440p USB C version and I paid the same $350 back in like 2020, it has been going great

  • +2

    Excellent monitor.
The dock has 65W PD on the usb c port. It's pretty convenient running a single cable to my laptop.

This is a pretty decent review (if you want more info): https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/utog8a/dell_s2722…

  • How crappy are the speakers on these? Looking to make a portable small screen streaming device to plugin my fire stick and make the simplest possible setup.

    • You'd be better off with a cheap pair of speakers or a small soundbar… Like one of those creative ones on Amazon for 50-70 bucks etc. Or a pair of edifier stereo speakers often on sale. I know you said simple but honestly decent audio is worth it..

    • I got the S2721QS from a couple years back and the speakers on it are bad. It'll sound like TV speakers, perhaps slightly worse.

    • Cheers guys. Looks like the hdr is pretty bad too, i might look elsewhere.

  • Is this mainly office or gaming or capable of both

    • +1

Mainly office. Probably not the best for gaming if that's what you're looking for.

      Full in-depth review on rtings.

    • +1

      Mainly office.

Technically supports freesync vrr over usb c alt mode but yeah nah. Don't get this for gaming.

If you 90% office work, and maybe just want a monitor to hookup a console to though could be viable as it has 2 hdmi ports.

      Office, yes
      Office game, yes
      Other games, no

  • Is this a good monitor for use with a Mac Mini M4? I am looking for a cheap 4K monitor which has a decent display for basic video editing (No colour grading) and which has built in speakers as I don’t really want to buy external speakers, and I do have ANC headphones I can use with it. I usually only use it for YouTube, Podcasts, movies, office work and video editing.

    • It’s basically the go-to, best quality, bang for buck ratio monitor out there (if USB-C is a requirement, which it is for me on Mac). I have this plus the equivalent high-end LG (paid ~$850) and they’re extremely similar.

Only cons would be it’s not capable of HFR gaming (fine for regular 60fps, consoles, etc) and the ‘HDR’ is pretty minor, with visible IPS glow when viewed in a dark room. Still, I played through all of Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) on it and it truly fantastic.

You’ll love it, I’d buy another any day. 👍

    • This is the display to go for with base Mini M4 I reckon.
You can go cheaper, but really this one has better ports and usb than its budget brethren. To do better need to go colour calibrated ultrasharp (more than double) or ideally 5K display for ultimate match, but 5K would be at last 5x as much as this.

    • I have the monitor and use it daily for productivity and yt with the Mac mini M4: it's fine 🤷

  • I have a S2722QC and S27221QS in a dual monitor setup. Apart from the lack of USB on the QS they appear to be identical. (Including the built in speakers which are identically terrible.) You can buy a WD19TBS USB-C dock second hand on eBay for about $80 (i.e. less than the price difference between the QS and QC) so the QS with a USB-C dock is also a good option if you want USB-C but don't care about it being built into the monitor.

  • got these during covid. very good monitors. pairs really well with macbook pros with usb c.

  • Is 4K on this size monitor overkill for someone with aging eyes? If I find it too fine a resolution and change to QHD, would it not be as clear as a QHD 27"?

    • +1

You’re better off changing the scaling in Windows than changing the resolution. The image will still be sharp if you use scaling instead of resolution to enlarge the picture.

If you change the resolution to QHD, it will not be as sharp as a native QHD panel.

  • Trying to decide between the Dell S2722QC for 350aud vs Dell S2721QS for 265aud for productivity to use with my MacBook m4 pro. Is paying 85 extra worth it for USB-C connectivity?

    • do you need usb c connectivity now? or do you think you are going to buy something soon that using usbc to the monitor? if yes, then worth it. if not, save money now, maybe buy a adapter or dock later when you need it. do not pay for anything that "maybe i will use it one day"

      • Any modern laptop, any Mac.

  • Sorry to hijack, for my use case (pure office), is it better to have a 32” and 27” via dock, or same as previous via daisy chain?

  • How does the Lenovo N27 compare @ $ 277 from officeworks?

    Officeworks

    • -1

This Dell is has over twice the resolution as that Lenovo, resulting in crisper text and images. However, the Dell’s refresh rate is the standard 60hz, which while nothing is wrong with that, 100hz feels smoother when you’re scrolling or moving the mouse around.

Dell do have a nice 15 day open box returns policy for change of mind, not sure if Officeworks offer that.

      • Thanks but both are 3840 x 2160 and 60hz.

        • oops sorry the OW website was down for maintenance, I was comparing N27Q

  • How does this compare to the Samsung M70D on sale at Bing Lee and Officeworks for $350? Going to use with my MacBook pro
