Probably the most add-on decent controller for your android/iphone. There are still plenty on sites like Ali for way cheaper however which do the job for less.

If you have an IPhone with lightning you are in luck to. The model that supports lightning are usually cheaper but are only located in stores and BIG W for 99.
There is however an EB games online stock for 88 https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/phones/292449-backbone-on….

  • I was going to get a PS Portal for an upcoming trip, maybe this is better (certainly cheaper)!

You can just link your DualShock 4 or DualSense controller to your phone or tablet.

    • Keep in mind the aspect ratio of your phone screen loses you some screen real-estate

I got one of these for my pixel 8 pro and it works great. But the screen is a tad smaller than my rog ally

      Buttons are very clicky too

  • Does this still require a subscription to use certain features? Like button remapping?

    • What did Google tell you?

  • I actually bought one of these and felt that the buttons and joysticks felt really cheap!

Ended up getting a power wave cheapo one on sale for $45 around Nov and it works far better…

    • You're sending me down a rabbit hole, what's the bang for buck but solid quality experience choice for ozbargainers? Is it this?

I want to feel like I'm still holding a console level controller, not some cheapy plastic accessory

Crazily enough, the Backbone felt like a cheap plastic accessory, and the Powerwave feels a bit heavier and nicer. Try get your hands on a Backbone before you buy. I think the Backbone has the market because they have a large advertising budget, and the Powerwave is 'just' a cheap accessory. It is actually a rebranded eBay/aliexpress spec item but really does the job nicely for casual gaming. The only downside for me was that the triggers are more like buttons rather than triggers with a range. Not a dealbreaker for me because I play more FPS and the occasional game through Steam Link.

      • Im a big fan of gamesir g8+.

Can also be used with a nintendo switch and up to any ~8inch tablet

  • Gamesir hardware is generally very good.

  • I bought it on BF $109 but not using much.
It needs perfect internet and router.

    • Is your PlayStation 5 hardwired or on Wi-Fi? Having it connected via ethernet makes all the difference even if it's just connected to a Wi-Fi extender via ethernet

  • I wish Sony comes back with something like the PSP ….

I just recently bought this. I can't sit at the TV all day to game so this plus a samsung galaxy fold works surprisingly well. I've definitely increased my overall PS5 time, which is why I bought it. Feedback for someone who hasn't tried the rest of the recommended devices is that it is easy to use and works every time I use it, but it doesn't have the trackpad of the PS5 controller, which means I need to move my thumb out of the way to tab it on screen - a little irritating if a game uses the trackpad button as a crucial. I know you can map it to something else but there aren't a lot of spare buttons on the backbone. Agree with comments on quality feel of the device. The build feels less than the PS5 controller, that's for sure. Hope this helps.

  • Nah get a gamesir branded one for half this price
