Dog Desexing Procedure at a NDN Participating Vet

NDN as in National Desexing Network: https://ndn.org.au/

Requires concession, any opinions on vets accepting NDN vouchers? Are they just as good or usually too busy doing too many things?

I assume they don't get fully reimbursed, just out of good will and as a community service.

It's quite a bit of difference, like more than double, especially for larger dogs, some places require 2 vets present costing more than $1,000.

  • The title suggests you are asking about the procedure used for desexing dogs. A description of which would uncomfortable, verging on gross.

But that's not what you're asking, is it? You're just talking about payment.

Who'd want to be a vet. Castrating some animals. Euthanasing others. And you got into it because you loved animals.

    • Yep, and ppl still baulk at vets bills. Vets do love animals, despite all that associated sadness and grief. It's the owners that make the job so challenging and stressful.

I'm pretty sure it's going to vary wildly by each vet on what their workload is and why they're in the program. I imagine their workload varies quite a lot too, the busier they are though probably suggests they're a better vet (or just in an underserviced area)

Go read some reviews of the vet you want to go to. There won't be any blanket rule for NDN vets.

I got my pup desexed using this around three years ago. It's also how i discovered my vet and we have been going back ever since. Basically they work with rescues, hence why they're always busy and dealing with people desexing their cats.
