Cheap (Asian Food) Lunch at Sydney CBD

Looking to take the boys for casual lunch in Sydney CBD whilst we wait for mom to shop.

Nothing fancy pancy, a $10 Pad See Ew or Pad Thai or Khao Phat will do.

Any recommendation?

It doesn't have to be Thai but budget probably $10-$12 per meal.

Nice, is she visiting from America?

  • That budget is difficult to get a lunch like that outside of Sydney CBD, never mind in it near the shopping areas.

Sea Bay is a cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant in the CBD but not at the budget you have in mind.

If you want Thai food, this is the response I put in your other thread on a very similar topic and it’s on the CBD end of Surry hills (in between Museum and central station)

Malay Chinese used to be excellent . It’s moved out of its hunter st location and no sure about how prices and quality stack up these days. It was excellent years ago (again more expensive than what you want to spend but that’s the CBD)

  • Try one of the Chinatown food court like dixon St or Sussex St.

    • Hasn't Dixon been closed for some time now? Did it open back?

If you want a succulent Chinese meal you have to go to Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.

  • Eh that budget's hard in the CBD

Can try boat noodle soup here for $6.50
