Four'n Twenty Angus Beef or Plant Based Pies Selected Varieties 4pk 1/2 Price $6 @ IGA (Selected Stores, Excl. TAS & NT)

270

Front page special in this weeks catalogue. $6 "better than half price". $9 at Coles, on special at Woolworths for $8.40.

Hasn't been anywhere near this price for ages, according to Hotprices

I'm still working through the ones I bought from Coles in 2022 for $5 a pack, so I'm going to fill the empty freezer space with this deal before they go up again.

I like the Beef Cheese and Bacon, that cheese sauce is amazing.

NOTE: This special appears to be $6.75 at NT stores and some remote SA stores (e.g. Coober Pedy), and does not appear in any catalogues for IGA Local Grocer stores nor any IGA TAS stores.

    'plant based'

is actually not based at all is it?

    • +1

No idea mate! I guess technically the base is made of pastry.

p.s. Thanks for being the first reply to my first post :)

I saw someone eat this with a spoon before lol

    • -2

It really isn't. Why eat imitation meat? Just eat the real deal.

RRP for 4 x 4n20 pies is now $12? lol who would ever pay that for those

    • +1

Angus version i think more expensive than the regular ones

    • +1

Agreed & 700g not 800g with tiny amount of filling .

      • +1

I'll take the Angus version and the 25g less water per pie personally, much more enjoyable not being mostly gravy. Having said that I never would spend full price on these.

      • +1

Ohh wow. I just checked my packs from 2022 in the freezer and they're 760g

15g less per pie, not enough to notice, but still.

      • 2 is too much, 1 is too little.

idk about the "use case" for these frozen meat pies tbh.

        • Tbh, you're better off ditching them and not for the meal proportions. Alternatively, pairing meats like steak, chicken, lamb with veggies, potatoes, etc is common. You could probably do the same here if 1 is not enough and 2 is too much. Just simply pair it with something else.

Personally I think $6 is still too much for this tasty but unhealthy food with cheap ingredients. Full price is outright robbery at $12 so $6 is better than nothing I guess. That should be the standard price though. This mince is likely from malnourished factory farmed cows fed with pesticide ridden gmo feed and pumped full of antibiotics, hormones and Bovaer. All wrapped up in glyphosate ridden pasta. Taste good but feels gross eating it knowing all of that. Right?
I'd rather buy some grass fed mince and organic pasta and make a spaghetti bolognaise. The whole thing costs me about $24 to make 1.7kg worth of food and would serve about 7 meals at 1.5 pies worth (242g versus 262g for 1.5pies). That's $3.42 a meal at full price for healthy food. For an equal comparison, these pies at full price are $4.50 per meal (1.5 pies) and much more expensive to eat unhealthy. Buying these pies on sale, you can save $1.17 per meal to eat unhealthy. It's not worth it. You are what you eat.

          • @Tythefly86: lol you talk like you just discovered cooking or something. it's always cheaper and heathier to eat at home. You cant really compare home cooking with instant meals lol.

If you make the pies yourself it's gonna take a long ass time, will cost you more and probably won't even taste half as good as supermarket ones.

            • @dukeGR4: Lol you talk like a bot. Lost cause. Good luck with your heart attacks

Lol you talk like a bot. Lost cause. Good luck with your heart attacks

Not a SINGLE soul asked for a breakdown of your meal prep or how/what you eat. I do not know you, i don't want to know you, i do not give two shits about your diet

Now who's the NPC here when you literally talk like an unskippable NPC that appears in a cutscene - dialogue, tone, mentality and all.

Which is why I think you literally JUST discovered home cooking or something, the fact that you have to share it here is definite proof when nobody asked. I DID NOT FKIN ASK LOL

  • +2

These angus pies are actually soo tasty

    • So is most food that's unhealthy LOL. It's by design

      • You talk like a bot.

    • They are indeed, I like to put some grated cheese on top of them and melts it under the grill, it's really enhances the flavours 👍

  • Thanks for the post as haven’t bought any plant based ones since Woolworths deleted the 4 pack and Coles the single pies.
