Interested in this too, got a newish mid range iRobot model that drunkenly runs along our walls whereas our 5 year old cheapie Viomi V3 cleans right to the edge without scraping. Nothing but issues with the iRobot in terms of losing its map etc as well, we hate it. We are renting a place with lime render walls that crumble to the touch and no skirting so it's legitimately an issue for us.
I'm very impressed with the SL60 in this price range.
I've never seen it bump into walls, it's only ever things on the ground that cause it issues. Even then, if it's something permanent (eg a drop) it seems to learn after getting stuck to be more .cautious around that area in the future (it appears to slowly edge forward near the drops now).
.How is the performance on carpet?
I don't have carpet, but it handles mats fine so I'm assuming it will handle carpets just as well. The mop function probably isn't a good idea on carpet, though.
Not too bad. Picks up my dog hair. I have it set to do each room twice and it does a pretty good job. I have it set to vacuum everyday. I now only use the corded vaccum once every month or so but used to vaccum once a week. I was really impressed given the price.
I think it's been mentioned but I never use the mop function. It isn't very good but also reports of it reducing the lifespan of the vacuum.@Iost: Is this vacuum quiet'?
Also keen to hear people's thoughts on this.
Currently was thinking I'll get a Roborock Q8 Max+ and just not use the mop next time there's a reasonable deal. We have hardwood floors and a dog that sheds every day of the year so I'm not expecting perfection, just something to keep things manageable between weekly manual vacuums.
This is basically what I use it for. Only difference is I have both carpet and hardwood. I go about monthly now for a manual vacuum.
I'm impressed for the price point and would recommend it for exactly what you've described
Roborock q5 pro
I bought this when it was around $200, look it up historically and you'll see it's been consistently selling for $200-220/230.
Yes. It's very good and an OZB favourite for a reason…
Some might say "theres a new version" with 4500 suction instead of 4499 or some other obscure value. I honestly don't think it makes any significant difference in real world usage, go with the cheapest?
This is the combo with the auto empty station
Lol I automatically skipped that part!! Good pickup and correction.
$80 for the station then, it's a good deal!
As mentioned, this is the combo with emptying station. Also this version has two brushes, the 4500 has one.
Have the version without the emptying station, does its job but isn't wonderful. SL68 is my model.
Paid AU$178.64 on Temu but with 50% cashback (if they pay out)
Would recommend instead buying on Temu with huge cashback, got it on this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876208
I bought this from Amazon in November. They shipped with aramex instead of their own drivers. It still hasn’t arrived and I’m trying to get a refund.
New to robot vacuum. Will the mop pause automatically when on carpet? Mine is timber floor but have a large rug. Don't know how smart this vacuum is.
I also have > 20mm height gap to bathroom. Does anyone suggest a fix? Thinking to add a rail there, so hopefully someone in this community can share their experience.
You define on the map which zones are mop-free (maybe it's the pro-mop zone, I've never used it).
20mm should be fine - I have a thick rug about that high that it traverses no worries
https://www.temu.com/au/--plus-robot-vacuum-mop-combo-4000pa… cheaper on temu if they do another mega cashback (50% uncapped) again
The plus combo (with auto empty station) is out of stock on Temu, and maybe 12 months warranty? Instead of 24..,
Was instock at the time, must've gone OOS
Unsure on warranty, I'd buy from Amazon if that's a concern though because consumer law will more likely be honored.
Not sure how credible this video is from YT but the charging is super slow and battery life is short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UA6ruxujFAM
He got a lemon perhaps?
I don't have that problem (yet maybe)
Should I, shouldn't I? That is the question. I don't need it, but they look cool
I bought this one a few months back, been relatively happy with it. Pathing is good, mopping is better than I expected for what's essentially just dragging a wet cloth around. It has started having issues docking and I sometimes have to prop the docking station on a bit of an angle to get it to dock properly, the metal contacts have started to rust a bit somehow which I think is the issue. That should be easy enough to clean up though.
The only real issue is that it pretty often clogs when it's trying to empty dust into the docking station, it clogs maybe 30% of the time. That said, our house is a mess (lots of dog hair and general toddler mess) so it's over full every time. It does only take a few seconds to remove and empty the dust bin though so I'm not too fussed by that.
App is pretty good, little bit buggy occasionally but very usable.I bought it on Temu shipped from Australia with a cashback deal that had the price around ~170 after cashback which I think was definitely a good price. At 300 I'd probably still go for it, but keep in mind Temu is an option.
Has anyone worked out how to get notifications from the Smart Life app? On iOS if it makes any difference. I have notifications "enabled" for the app itself but don't seem to be able to get push notifications when things go wrong (which I swear is every couple of days).
How does this go with pet hair?
Is there a decent vacuum robot that has decent object detection and pathing? Don’t care so much about mopping. Just don’t want the vac banging into walls to find where to go
