eSIM and SIM Card Two Different Phones

I’m going to ask a silly question here I want to use my current iPhone SE 2nd gen for work and use my iPhone 16 plus for general day to day use.
Is it possible to have both phones in use obviously not at same time but use esim in either phone and sim in either phone whichever method is best, to basically save me swapping cars over regularly.

As said it maybe not possible but just curious I am with boost and i believe esim has been out a while I yet to set up my iPhone 16.

Not possible, when you activate eSim it will automatically deactivate the physical sim and vice versa.

You cannot share the same number across multiple phones.

  • So what’s the appeal on esim vs sim i thought it be the case regarding using either on two phones would have been nice if you could.
I was hoping to just use old phone for work which sounds like I might need a cheap active but open account on this.

You buy esim when travelling so you don't have to physically remove your home sim - keep both active so you can still receive SMS from your home number

esims are also instant so you don't have to wait to receive physical sim in the mail when you port/churn.

  • Not possible. If you want a cheap 2nd sim for receiving calls wait for an Amaysim sim to go on special at Coles or WW & it can be activated on the PAYG plan.

You could use the "Calls On Other devices" and "Text Message Forwarding" features - that way you can receive calls and SMS on both phones.
You just can't make or send calls/SMS from your personal phone, you can only receive them
Use iPhone to allow calls and text messages on your iPad and Mac

    • Seems a bit confused was even thinking of amaysim $10 yearly plan but needed gb there used to I believe be one with 60gb per year I think $60 or something like that but no longer available, I personally don’t even know if amaysim would work at job as little bit remote

My old provider in The Netherlands had this functionality (and still does, just checked) - called duo sim card. Same number on 2 sims. You can only have 1 sim card active (phone connected to the network) at the same time.

I wonder why Australian providers don't provide this service, could even charge a few $ per month for it.
